Qado is a charity organization that works to support Somali widows with children who are struggling financially, thus fail to provide foot and education.

Historie

We want people to know that we are determined to help orphans and widows in somalia, but we also need people to understand what we working on and why we need support.Our goal is to help orphans/widows help them. According to Islam, orphans are those children who are left with no protection because their fathers have passed away. Many widows have no source of income and no one to take care of them. We as a community have the moral obligation to step in and do whatever we can to support these widows and their orphans by empowering them with vital skills that will help them raise their children.
We want to invest in these widows’s lives and help them by teaching them how to sew and make clothing so they can provide food, clothing, and schooling for their children by income they generate from their sewn garments. Our goal is become independent workers see those widows alone with children to become independent workers. Our hope is that to see by changing these women’s lives, that positive change will trickle down to the children and change a community.
Sewing is a craft that a lot of these women connect to, so it’s wonderful that they can make clothes as a way to be independent, earn money and buy food for their children. In addition they are getting training that helps them to be independent, and their children who were unable to go to school are now attending school, they are able to feed their children, and benefitting from socialising with other widows who have been through similar hardship in life. .

In Somalia, the most vulnerable group of people who are usually displaced by conflict are widows and their orphans. Our focus is on orphans and widows because they are often the weakest members of any society, and the most affected by the scourge of poverty. Most of these widows and their orphans live day to day and do not have a father figure to provide food and shelter.
