Thon Hotel Opera opened in Bjorvika in May 2001 and is located between the Central Station and the Operahouse.

Historie

The hotel has 480 well-equipped rooms in various sizes, 2 of wich are magnificent suites on the top floor. All our original rooms were refurbished in 2015.
Scala Restaurant on the 3rd floor seats up to 250 guests. We serve lunch buffet from 11:30 am to 2 pm and a à la carte menu from 5 pm on weekdays. Eufemia Bar on the ground floor serves refreshments, drinks and nibbles.

This was an excellent place to stay for first time visitors to Oslo. We came in on the train and the hotel was just next door. We were able to check in a couple hours early which was awesome after 20 hours of traveling. The room itself was clean and comfortable. A little small compared to what we're used to in the US but totally fine. The breakfast was outstanding! Best we had on our whole vacation. Go early if you prefer less of a crowd.
I've been two separate nights in this hotel so I got two different rooms: both of them were very nice and spacious. The breakfast was really great, one of the best I've ever had. On the second night I had to leave very early so they made me a breakfast box to take away. The position is very good, just behind the Opera House. The only negative aspect is the absence of a parking facility: avoid the one next to the hotel because it's extremely expensive.
Can’t beat the location. The entry level rooms are a bit small, but very still have room for a chair and a luggage rack. Service was excellent. Staff made you feel like they were there just for you. Aktiviteter i nærheten: The Opera House is essentially across the street. Fremkommelighet til fots: We walked all over the area using this as our base.
Loved the Central Oslo area . Hotel was Close to all public transportation. Amenities were good, food great. Access to the bay area and rest of the cities treasures wonderful.Rom: 5/5
Loved this hotel. It's in the perfect location right next to the Oslo S and the Opera House and waterfront. Also, easy walking access to Karl Johan's Gate and more. The rooms were beautiful, and breakfast was wonderful - comparable to a Marriot resort style breakfast. My only complaint was over the air conditioning. I purposefully chose this hotel for the air conditioning, but we were unable to actually change the air temp in our room even though there was a little dial in the wall. Hotel restaurant Euphemia was a treat, as well. Highly recommend this hotel.
We didn’t stay in this hotel so can’t comment on the rooms. However we did experience the breakfast after getting off the night train from Bergen to Oslo. This hotel partners with VY so you can get a good buffet breakfast for NOK195. Kids 2YO go free. It’s a little crowded after 8am but the area is quite spacious so it was not too bad. I would recommend this option for night train takers. You can also store up your luggage for free rather than paying for the locker in the train station.
Fine og stille rom. Vi bodde i 10. etasje. Restauranten i lobbyen var helt grei. Hyggelig betjening, men litt rotete og lite kunnskap om maten. Desserten smakte som den hadde stått i kjøleskap i veldig lang tid. Fin og sentral beliggenhet i forhold til tog, buss og bane. Rom: Fine og store rom i 10. etasje. Liten balkong der man kan innta morgenkaffen.
Overall, nice 2-day stay. Customer service was excellent. Room had noticeable wear and tear, but nothing unexpected. Only negative was carpet. Carpet showed its age and was really stain. Bed was okay for a nice sleep. The blackout curtains were needed during summertime. Breakfast was magnificent. Tasty and filling with many choices.Rom: 4/5
We spent 2 nights in this great hotel in direct proximity to Oslo Sentralstasjon! Very comfortable beds, delicious breakfast offerings and nice/modern interior. We would definitely recommend this place to all visitors of Oslo. Thanks for making our stay so comfortable! :Rom: 5/5
Amazing and super helpful staff. Polite and professional. One of the receptionists helped me a lot with fixing my problem, and I am super thankful. I wish all hotels would have such a great staff.
