"Tromsø Villmarksenter is one of the biggest adventure companies in Norway, and is located on Kvaløya the whale island 25 minutes from Tromsø.We have 300 Alaskan huskies and offer dog sledding trips and northern lights safaris, lasting from 4 hours to 5 days, in the winter Nov 1st – April 30th. In the summer May 1st – Oct 31st we focus on the midnight sun with kayaking trips and mountains hikes.Our main focus is to offer an authentic wildlife experience for everyone. Individuals, courses and conferences, locals, incentives and events or groups, Everybody is welcome!"

Great experience you will never forget!The nature is beautiful here, the dogs are sweet and happy and the staff is very cheerful and kind. We are real dog lovers ourselves and were a bit skeptical about whether it would be animal-friendly. But the animals seemed very happy and relaxed. There was also a dog aged 10+ who was retired, but still wanted to run so badly that he was allowed to come along. After the tour we were allowed to cuddle the dogs and that was also a very nice experience. The dogs are all very sweet.
Excellent place for active pastime! A lot of friendly dogs to pet, an unforgettable sledding experience, very nice guides who speak wonderful English and prepare you for a new experience. Overalls are issued, don't say no! Usual sport/hiking clothes and boots is enough, but when you cuddling dogs... Better to change On the territory there is a restaurant, a very authentic wooden building with a fireplace and delicious hot national food. It's definitely worth the money
The sled dog experience was amazing! And the food they served was phenomenal, we had the reindeer soup. It was homemade and such a nice warm meal. So fun, highly recommend!!
One of the best experiences of my life. The views surrounding the property are gorgeous as you sled by mountains and bodies of water. The dogs are extremely sweet and very well taken care of. Highly recommend this above any activity when visiting Tromsø
What a great place! Visited during summer and did the “Puppy Training”, and it was wonderful. We hiked around the property grounds with the puppies and did a couple of exercises with them. We also metand pet! all the sledding dogs, they are super sweet. The dogs are so loved and very well taken care of. When I originally booked the experience, I didn’t add the rental boots, but when I got there, the staff advised I should get them. They are right, just rent the boots! Big shout out to the staff, they are so so amazing and kind.
My sister and I booked onto the self-drive dog sledding experience on 14th March 2024. We had an incredible experience from start to finish! When we arrived we drove ourselves to the centre, we were provided warm overalls to go over our clothes and were directed to a small outdoor seated area. Next, we were taught how to drive the sleds and directed to sit in a sled. Our guide Leo was fantastic - very funny and always happy to answer any questions. My sister drove the sled first, while I sat enjoying the ride and taking photos. We swapped at the halfway point. Both sitting and driving the sled were so fun! I also think the experience was the perfect length of time. It was very enjoyable and challenging, but ended before you got too tired or cold. After the sled ride, we were able to walk around and meet the dogs. They were SO friendly and happy to be cuddled. It was a wonderful experience. We then sat in a cosy gamme and were served hot drinks, reindeer stew, and chocolate cake. Everything was delicious and we were well cared for by all of the staff members. Overall, it was an incredibly fun and interesting experience and formed the highlight of my trip to Norway! All of the staff members were fantastic, and Leo was particularly wonderful. Thank you all!
Had the most amazing time dog sledding here here - the huskies were all so friendly and incredibly well looked after, the staff were really informative and enthusiastic, and to top it off we ended with the best hot chocolate and cake! Would absolutely recommend here, it was such a magical day, thank you!
Family trip to Tromso, Norway. Had an amazing guide dog / snowshoe hike. Good rest center with fire pit for hot drinks & snacks. Solid gear & outer wear provided for excursions. Visit, breath deep, give hounds love.
We didn’t had the best weather possible but we still had a great time! The dogs are really friendly and eager to go sledding! We drove the sleds which was super nice! We then had a meal inside a warm hut, you can have reindeer soupe or vegetarian couscous and homemade cake at the end. The food was really tasty. You’ll have a good time for sure!
One of the coolest experiences of my life. Highly highly recommend to anyone visiting Tromsø. It's well worth the price. I and my friend did the version where you control the sled yourself. You can tell that the dogs are very eager to pull you along. They're very cute and they let you pet them when you're done sledding. The landscape they take you through is gorgeous. At the end of the session, they serve lunch which consists of reindeer soup, your choice of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, and a slice of cake, all of which were delicious. The small sheds each dog stays in don't look great initially, but the employees insist it's optimal for the dogs. I enjoyed every minute of my experience here.
