Historie

Since 1963 there have been surfers at Unstad bay. Thor Frantzen and Hans Egil Krane was probably the first surfers in Norway. As young boys they had to work on ships for earning money. The ships traveled world wide and in Sydney the saw and tried surfing for first time. Back home in Lofoten they had to make their own boards. At that time the famous Beach boys was on all top hit list. And the only outline from a surfboard they have was the cover of Baech boys album Surfin´safari from 1962. Off they go and made their own surfboards from this cover. The boards can be watched at Unstad.

Then again in the early 90´s Kristian Breivik refound the bay again. At this time there was only some few surfers in Norway and they where all located around the Stavanger area. Kristian moved to Stavanger and talked so much about this fantastic waves north of the arctic circle. One day the gathered a small team a headed up to face this waves. They scored big time with a monster swell from south west and perfect barrels rolled in. Surfing magazin was also traveled with them.

In 1999 Surfers like Sam Lamiroy and Spencer Hargraves made the epic surf movie E2K wich is shooted from Unstad beach. At this time there wasn´t many surfers in the area. In 2000 Tommy Olsen moved up there an started surfing. Some years later ther was a handful of local surfers. At 2003 Unstad Camping was a reality. Founded by Thor Frantzen and his wife Randi. At the beginning there was only some few cabins, they build some new cabins, started up a resturant and began to rent out some few surfboards.

Today Unstad camping has changed both name and owners. Marion Frantzen bought the camping from her father and mother and is today what we call Unstad Arctic Surf.

Is it a pretty good cinnamon roll, yes. Is it the world’s best, definitely not. Inconsistent consistency of the dough, too sweet. But nice that it’s warmed up and they serve it with a little whipped cream and fruit.
We bought a Sunshine cinnamon roll to share, and I will recommended to share it, as it’s really rich. It came with fruit and whipped cream – a great combination! The coffee was some of the strongest I’ve ever tasted, almost undrinkable. But overall, it was worth the visit
What on earth are these comments - the cinnamon buns were probably the top 3 treats I’ve eaten in my life. Crispy, caramel top, rich in cinnamon, gooey custard in the middle and paired with an unreal view. Haters are insaaaaane!! Outlandishly expensive but you’re eating a baked bun in the arctic circle, what do you expect?
We dined at the restaurant. The prices were quite high even compared to Norwegian prices. The hotbowl and the soup were fine. The "worlds greatest cinnamon bun" was also quite good, but did not live up to the name or the pricetag.
One of the best cinnamon buns on Lofoten Island. A nice and cozy place where you can take a break and relax. Prices are high, even for Norway.Service: 4/5
Honestly? Really disappointed in the cinnamon buns! Not even a really good one… way way too sweet, and I usually eat two, so I can handle sweet And too expensive! The good point: they have vegan options
Decent food. Don't let the reviews hype you up, the cinnamon buns are decent. A much sweeter, fatter and slightly more crunchy roll. But really heavy. To me, definitely not worth the high price.
We went several times to have coffees and/or breakfast. The coffee was really good. The food wasn't extraordinary. The prices were high compared to other coffee places in Lofoten. The people working there are absolutely adorable and kind. You can sit inside or outside. And there's some plugs. Mat og drikke: Vegetarian option
Solid 5/5. We stayed at the upper apartment it was beautiful and cozy. We had our own hot tub and sauna as well. The cafe is amazing and the cinnamon buns are unreal/Rom: 5/5
Agree with review below - it feels like scam. Cinnamon rolls are super expensive and mine was underbaked. When I told stuff that it was uneatable, they said oh they tend to be underbaked and they did not even removed it from the bill.
