Gina is a former director of NORLA ( www.norla.no) and rights editor in Aschehoug Agency (now OLA), former head of pressdepartements in Aschehoug Publishing House, Oslo Nye Teater and Teater Ibsen ( then Telemak Teater).
Gina’s father, Trond Winje (1928 – 2002) translated classic and contemporary German literature into Norwegian. She grew up with Kafka, Lessing, Kleist, Rilke and Brecht among other German authors as ‘daily literary guests’ around the dinnertable.
The sheep – crime Glennkill by Leonie Swann was published by Aschehoug PublishingHouse in 2007, translated by Gina Winje, according to her a most charming sheep – crime.
Gina Winje has been living with books all her life.
Literature in translation has been part of her daily life since childhood.
In the years to come Gina will expand Winje Agency to represent literature of high quality in translations. Fiction and non – fiction, essays, poems, plays.
