Poor response to our report of problems on returning the car. They claimed we returned it 2hours late and charged extra. I provided budget with proof that we returned it and hour early but 5 days later apart from a reference number there is no response.
Charged £150 for a tiny chip in the windscreen which was very likely there when we rented the vehicle. It was behind the wiper and when we picked up the vehicle the windscreen was covered in water droplets so we didnt manage to photo this area and have no proof it wasnt us. Very unfair practice. They haven't been able to show us a photo of this area when we collected the car either. Beware of this company.
This rental-office of AVIS wrongly makes a copy of your passport, this is not allowed, a passport may only be used for personal identification. Our company often rents from AVIS and have never experienced this in the past at many locations in Europe. The car offered was almost new and in good condition, there is nothing to say about that.
I came to Gothenburg and was very unlucky. A bus crashed into my car and sent it straight to the workshop. Dealing with my insurance company was a nightmare. However, the light at the end of the tunnel was Paul, who works at Avis. He understood my situation completely and helped me with everything. He made sure I got the car I needed the same day and even provided me with his personal contact information in case anything else came up.nnAnd with my luck, something did. The day after I hired the car, I managed to puncture the tire. I called Paul, and he immediately arranged for me to go to a nearby workshop, where the tire was fixed within 40 minutes. It's rare these days to meet someone so service-minded. I'm incredibly grateful for this experience and for Paul's exceptional service. Hiring a car from Avis has actually become one of my good memories from my stay in Gothenburg.
I recently rented an electric Hyundai Ionic from Avis and had a generally positive experience. The website and app are user-friendly, and I particularly appreciate the flexible cancellation policy. However, there was a bit of confusion at pick-up; both the email and app suggested that I could simply walk to the car and drive away, but this was not the case when I arrived. Despite this, the check-in process itself was smooth and quick. I also faced challenges with the charging process as no instructions were provided, which made my first attempt to charge the vehicle in Gothenburg quite frustrating. Overall, Avis provides a good service, but clearer communication and better support for electric vehicle charging would enhance the experience significantly.
