An unforgettable stay at Hotell Fängelset i Västervik What makes this hotel unique, is that it is not only the prison theme that has been kept alive until today in the form of decoration, but there is also a detailed account of its history in the form of musealia, such as old photographs, a curated room with the prisoner doll representing the living conditions of the prisoners in the past and texts. The breakfast was equally delicious and with remarkable quality and variety of food to choose from. Finally, the small boutique of the hotel was offering stylish and sustainable products to buy, such as tea and handmade candles, with the prices being totally affordable. Staying at this hotel is a must for those, who are interested in exploring the historical past in a value for money manner.
Excellent location right next to the train and bus station. Nice rooms, clean and private. Highly recommend for anyone, including families.
First thing first; this is an old prison compound. The rooms are old prison cells and the history is well preserved here. That means the rooms are small and undecorated. If you like this idea, then this is the place for you! History is literary written on the walls here, and you get a genuin feeling of how the conditions where for the inmates at the time. The hotel in general is clean and well served. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the hotel is also equipped with a fully functional kitchen with multiple coolers and fridges for the hotel guests. There are a variety of rooms to choose from, all depending on your needs. But the majority of rooms are tiny prison cells.nBreakfast is basic but well made and fresh.nAll in all a very exciting experience. Highly recommended.
