Came here from the Philippines and stayed for 1 night during our road trip through Sweden, did not expect much but it was beyond our expectations, amazing food and amazing place to stay. Very friendly staff as well!
Slow service and cold food. Arrived for table booked at 1815. Table not ready for a further 20 minutes. Order taken with drinks 50 minutes for drinks to arrive after having to reorder drink for a second time with a little less than convincing apologetic response from the staff saying the internet had gone down. Food arrived cold like it had been sitting for 30mins on the side of a kitchen. This is not what you expect from an apparently top ten restaurant of Oskarshamn. Would never recommend this place to my worst enemy.
We booked through booking.com last minute and compared to the prices and the pictures it looked like a great deal. However there were several inconsistencies with the check in and check out times and restaurant opening and closing times. The place said check in what between 8 am and midnight. WE thought it rotor be great since qe were on our way on the fairy from Gotland and would arrive btwn. 8:30-9 pm. The check out times said between 11am till midnight. They called to confirm what time we would check in since their restaurant closed at 8 pm. But it was listed online and at the hotel that it actually closes at 9 pm. They're were still people eating when we arrived. We asked the gentleman about the checkout times since we were so tired and we found it very convenient to check out late and could sleep in. But he said it was an error on the page...they meant checkout was 11 am not pm..but we could check out at 12 noon. The parking was listed for free, but it's not within the hotel area it's by the shipping bay across the street and the parking times say for maximum 2 hours. We went onto the sidewalk to unload our baggage in the front entrance with stairs. They have no handicap ramp there. We then checked in and they kept calling my partner by a different name. The gentleman didn't know where we were staying..he was surprised when my partner said the suite and showed him his confirmation. We then had to go up a spiral stairway with our suitcases and bags several times **beautiful stairs but no elevator to go up to our suite. So if you can't carry your luggage and climb two floors back and forth don't stay here. The room was promoted as a private restroom but there are several rooms on the same floor that share a balcony witha great view and a lounging area and restroom with a shower. Lucky for us we were the only ones staying that night so we had the restroom for ourselves....Just across the lounge area outside our suite. They had not cleaned very well. I moved the couch to watch tv and snuggle closer but there were used dental floss sticks and crumbs of i don't know what under the center table and couch. The rugs were very stained and dusty. I carry wwt wipes and napkins so i cleaned up our area. The place is an old train station which is a unique landmark with great history but the owners don't seem to keep up the place. The walls were cracked all around and there were many large visible stains on the rhinned out carpet which was also torn in many places. They laid a large carpet over the carpeted floor in the center. The room was huge and a king size bed that looked like a royal bed. There was an emerald grern fire place and a huge flat screen tv. And large glass windows and as double patio door that didn't lock, going directly to the balcony. If other guests stay there they can access the room easily. It smelled like it had not been vacuumed or dusted in a long while. But we tried to make the best of it. I cleaned up what i thought needed most cleaning. The table at the balcony and used a plastic bag as our trash bin for the night dice there was no trash bin provided in the large suite and the clock on the wall had no battery. There was one coffee mug only and a hot water boiler to make coffee or tea. Do we didn't use it. The clerk had previously asked what time we would have breakfast and we said around 9am. It was a continental breakfast...sausages, meatballs, fried eggs, fruit assortment, cheese slices, cream cheese, cotrage cheese, yogurt assortment with yogurt mixes oats granola etc... Watered down Orange juice from the day before in the bar and lingonberry juice. They did have fresh coffee. We were their only guests and they had a big area to dine inside or outside with nice views. I was disappointed at the information that was not consistent with what was promoted. The employees were not informed of our names and didn't know where we would stay either. No private restroom or parking at the hotel. No hadicap ramp in the main entrance or elevator access to the top floors where the rooms were.
The staff was super friendly and the food in general was fairly priced and they had a good amount of variety to choose from.nnI would say that the plate used for my dish felt a bit like a miss because it felt to slim making it difficult to keep the rice from falling off the plate.nnI also thought while the coleslaw was quite alright it didn't really match with the rest of the things on the plate making it the odd thing outnnOther than that i would very much recommend this place when you're around
Great quality food and even better service! We will absolutely come back when we visit Oskarshamn again.
