The royal barns on VisingsönThe King's Barns, also called the Russian Barns, were built in 1729-40 by the lessee, the count and lieutenant-general Johan August Meijerfelt. At the time, the barns belonged to the Kungsgården that was located on the site, today they are stables for harness horses.nnJohan August Meijerfelt leased Visingsborg's royal farm from 1720 until his death in 1749. The fact that he had the royal barns built in what is an unusual building style for the area was probably due to the shortage of timber that prevailed at the time and that the lessee had previously been a lessee on various farms in Skåne where this construction method is very common.nnIn the vernacular, the barns are sometimes called the Russian barns, which refers to the legend that it would have been the Russian prisoners of war who were at Visingsborg Castle who built them. In fact, the POWs were no longer on the island when the barns were built. They may possibly have been involved in erecting earlier buildings on the site, but not the so-called Russian barns.nnThe King's Barns are located near Visingsö harbor, out of consideration for the horses that are in the barns, they are not open to the public, but you can easily cycle or walk past them and think about where the name Rysslador actually comes from. The traditional Kumlaby tour with a rope team passes, among other things, the Kungsladugårdarna.
Visingsö is always such a nice place to visit, with a bicycle you can quickly get around the island in a pleasant and useful way.nnThe King's Barns, also called the Russian Barns, were built in 1729-40 by the lessee, the count and lieutenant-general Johan August Meijerfelt. Nice place with nice buildings. But as someone previously wrote. It's not much more than that.nnIt would have been fun to see the inside as it would have felt a little more fun, but of course understand that it is difficult to solve.
Beautiful building, you can walk around it, I don't know more.
