OON was an idea that began during a casual internet chat between two writers, Jeff Unaegbu and Lawrence Onuzulike.
There was the worry of the lack of a platform for veteran writers to interact with upcoming writers by way of their works and interviews. There was also the worry of the near neglect of Nigerian academics such as professors and doctors by the Media.
There was, of course, the burden of a battered image abroad too. The two writers decided that there should be a platform which should engineer a new reawakening of the values of the Nigerian literature, academic and art societies.Such values should be introduced markedly like a new waterfall into the consciousness of the world.
Consequently, Nigerian literature, academic and art societies will be appreciated by the world and, through this, the image of Nigeria will begin to turn a new leaf.
Thus, on March 27, 2011, Lurrenzinc, a company headed by Lawrence Onuzulike, created this site.
Skeletal postings of Jeff Unaegbu’s works were used to commission the then fledgling baby. The site now boasts of interesting features such as News, Short Stories, Non Fiction, New Nigerian Books, Art, Poetry, Campus Life and others. You can also write for suggestions for improvement and for other reasons in Contact Us.
Come now and drink the old and new wine collected in the thick of Africa. Every Nigerian who is of the artistic, literary and academic societies is a wine tapper and a wine drinker in this square. Enjoy OON and become a new Nigerian.
