Spräckaretorpet / Granatgruvan i Sjönevad

It looks more like a quarry than a mine. The Mine itself is up on the slope by a gravel road and you must be careful when going up. The mineral can be seen everywhere in the mountain on the rock piles etc. The surrounding environment is fabulous, if you like nature, you will enjoy being in these surroundings.

Perhaps not as much mining as hoped for. But if you want to see garnets in their unprocessed form in nature, this is one of the few places in Sweden. Nature and the environment are unspoiled and it is a nice place to visit in nature.nDon't miss the crevasse.

The grenade mine, the open pit is right next to a dirt road, it's very steep so be careful if you intend to climb to the top. Do not go up the slope among the stones as they are loose, rather go up on the right side.nThere are a lot of garnets to see, every other rock has garnets.nThe nature and surroundings are very beautiful! nDon't miss the remains of Spräkkaretorpet and its preserved earthen cellar, located nearby.

An interesting place that reflects Swedish history with the striving and work of the individual in the form of Spräkkaretorpet's ruin with associated stonework and the Garnet mine. The mine shows how international events the Spanish Civil War can affect the local built.

Difficult to access and poorly marked. Difficult to find the mine itself, which is mostly a pile of stones. Nice environment though.
