One day the Internet will run entirely on renewable energy. The Green Web Foundation (TGWF) develops tools to speed up that transition.

Story

For many of us Internet has become part of our daily lives, yet at the same time is a major contributor to carbon emissions. It is a luxury we can’t do without, but together we can help it become more environmentally friendly.
The Green Web Foundation (TGWF) is an active not-for-profit organisation striving to deliver a meaningful contribution towards creating a more sustainable, environmentally-friendly internet by:

- Creating and maintaining international databases and listings for green hosting providers and datacenters
- Creating and maintaining tools for internet users that create transparency about which domains are hosted green by mentioned hosting providers and/or datacenters

Underlying aim is the promotion of green energy for running websites, servers and data centers. Together we can make an enormous difference.

Mission

By 2020 at least 80% of the Internet should run on renewable sources. Together we can make this happen, by letting suppliers know we care. Install our app to upgrade your browser if you want to be part of this, and see while surfing how the green web develops.

Users do > 700.000 checks daily now on the system, and we are growing fast (around 10% per week). These numbers will continue to grow with your help, and that will make hosting companies realize that we care!
