Story

Energy poverty is a critical issue for the development of remote communities in emerging countries. 1.1 billion people worldwide live without access to clean energy, mainly due to high interest on loans and high upfront costs of clean energy solutions.

Today, energy comes from costly, health-hazardous fuels like kerosene and diesel.
For children studying in environments lit by kerosene lamps, inhaling the fumes equates to smoking two packs of cigarettes per day. Solar energy is cheaper than dirty fuels, but without access to finance, people living in energy poverty cannot overcome the upfront costs.

Using crowd-investing, TRINE enables people to support solar energy projects, while also delivering a return on investment. Together we bring finance to local solar entrepreneurs to electrify the developing world.
