The oldest restaurant in Norway. Feel like you are dining in a castle. Very cosy and beautiful. Went for lunch, food portion is big even for sandwich. Have to try the famous fish & seafood soup. Great wine list. Highly recommendMat: 5/5
I am barely as satisfied with restaurant like with this one. The food was AMAZINGLY GOOD! And we found both the whale steak and the reindeer stew on the menu. The staff was kind, the atmosphere fancy but friendly. Yes it is pricy, but totally worth it!Mat: 5/5
We made reservations online for 4:30pm and it was lovely sitting on the patio by the fountain. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was very good. The reindeer steak could’ve been more tender but the beef brisket was very tender. The sauces and vegetables were perfect.Mat: 5/5
The place is magical, with a really nice atmosphere, soft lights and music, it feels you are jumping back in time. The service is excellent: I had been warned about a delay in bringing food at the table due to a big group being served in the restaurant, but actually I got everything really quickly. Everything was delicious: I had the dressed crab and crab salad as a starter, the reindeer steak as main and the Norwegian omelette as dessert. I wish I could try more dishes.
Such a great dining experience @ Oslo's oldest restaurant! The restaurant itself - very cool and the food, SPECTACULAR! The reindeer was superb, mildly gamey but fantastic. The vegetarian option was phenomenal I love white asparagus!, the semi-dried stockfish of cod, also fantastic the bacon really made the dish mouthwatering. Not a huge fan of the mead ice-cream but the cinnamon bun was perfect. The raspberry mousse was the tables top favorite. The caramel pudding was also very good reminded me of a mix between Creme Brulee yum! Alternativer for vegetarianere: Ask your server for vegetarian dish of the day, so good!
Reindeer steak with sides will remain in my memory for a long time. The meat is so tender and melting in he mouth that you want to order a second portion. The dish is so fulfilling and rich with various vegetables and sauces. Excellent. King crab and omelette Norvegienne are also delicious. My other highlight is the toothpicks of this establishment. The best I've ever used, and I didn't even know something like that was possible. I left the restaurant with a cleaner mouth than when I arrived. Will definitely come back here.
Make reservation before coming here for dinner. This is a very stunning place. The old story of the building and inside. The charming service and the food is all home made and really amazing.Mat: 5/5
Great experience dining at this historic restaurant. Food was great and staff were friendly. Highly recommend making this a stop on your Oslo itinerary!Mat: 5/5
Firstly, it is an expensive restaurant. We paid around 2,500 NOK for 3 adults. But it is touted as the oldest in Oslo. The food was good, but the fish was salty for me. When you dine here, you feel like going back in time. The portions were generous. The dessert was delicious. We aren’t that adventurous with food but if you are, then you can try the reindeer and the whale. I saw other tables having the reindeer steak. We had dinner here and it was raining, so the ambiance was moody and romantic with the view of a plaza and fountain. So you can go here with your spouse or even propose to your partner. Relaxing atmosphere. Definitely a place for special occasions we just ran the Oslo Marathon so we decided to have dinner here. Dress up a bit most in blazers so you don’t feel out of place.
This restaurant has a very nice and warm atmosphere and looks a bit exklusiv but service is friendly and the food is simply amazing. Only thing that could be better is the black coffee. It was a filter coffee and not strong enough and the taste at all was not the same quality like the dishes. I was there for lunch and the price is I guess normal for Norway. Around 45€ for fish soup, bred, water, coffee and a dessert. Yummy!
