It has a wonderful atmosphere. The interior is both a restaurant and a museum. I ordered Vågehval here. It was served with a wine sauce and a potato-broccoli salad, lingonberries and marinated onions. The whale meat tasted amazing. The salads really brought out the flavor of the whale meat. It was an extraordinary experience.Mat: 5/5
We visited in December. The restaurant had an incredible atmosphere, we felt as if we were in a romantic Christmas movie. The service was incredible, the staff Andrea and Emilia was insanely kind, treated us as if we had been going there for years. The food was incredibly tasty, it really wasn’t like anything I’ve tasted before and still somehow felt like home. It was one of our favourite restaurants that we’ve ever been to. If I could give it a thousand stars, I would.
Sure, nice location and decorations, but the menu only had two options: shrimp and fishcakes. Both seemed to be straight from the grocery store. We chose the place because of the Google feedback. When I asked about it, I was told the ownership had changed, and there is no chef! We came for local food, not warmed-up fast food. I felt like I was in some tourist trap in the Canaries, where people are getting ripped off. This is Norway, which is supposed to be proud of the quality it offers tourists.
The food variety is not enough in my opinion, just a few things on the menu. We took a reindeer filet which was very good and I highly recommend it since the sauce is also perfect. I took a king crab sandwich too which I would not recommend very much, other than that I didnt like anything else on the menu. The restaurant is cosy and small and nicely decorated.
This is a homey place to get some comfort food. The location is convenient from the city central. The interior is warm and comfy. The food is simple and tasty. The host James was excellent the moment I walked in, and leading by example to get the wait staff going. Overall a very positive experience!Mat: 5/5
Cute restaurant in Tromso. I had a fish soup and my daughter had reindeer sausage. Both came out pretty quick and delicious. Cute decor too.Mat: 4/5
This place was great! The staff are great, especially Ellie! I was told about a Norwegian waffle dessert that wasn’t on the menu by another staff member and I’m so glad he told me about it. It was the best dessert I had in Norway! Delicious cheese and toppings on the waffle. Would definitely recommend asking for the waffle if you don’t see it on the menu.
We were a party of two who walked in at 2 o’clock PM for lunch. The restaurant was quite empty so I was excited to be seated for a warm creamy soup. Unfortunately, after waiting for someone to greet us the person states all tables are reserved and the only availability was 3 o’clock PM so we made a reservation for that time slot. We come back at 3 PM only to realize all tables are still empty. Quite a shame to turn customers away and frankly we shouldn’t have upheld our reservation. In addition, an older couple came in with no reservation and were greeted with no hesitation and were allowed to choose the table they seemed fit. We were seated right by the front entrance when there were multiple tables available. Disgraceful.
The decoration inside is awesome. They provide a large portion of dishes. Although whale meat tastes a little bit weird for me, the overall experience is wonderful. It is recommended for anyone who wants to try some Norwegian food.
Fairly touristy probably cause of the minke whale meat - which was not bad, less gamey than reindeer meat and goes well with the lingonberry sauce. Fisksuppe was above average too
