Prior reservation is required, food is extra ordinary, ambiance is amazing. They offer orange margarita which is very nice. We tried their soup, shrimps, king crab and oysters. Everything was cooked to perfection. I had never tried oysters before so I found it extremely rich and delicious.Mat: 5/5
This was our best meal during our stay in Tromso, and also the most expensive. The food was fresh and tasty. We started with a variety of three types of oysters from France and Canada - all were fresh. We also had a big platter of prawns, snow crabs and king crabs. The crabs were so good that we ordered another portion, including more oysters. This was followed by the fish soup that the eatery is famous for, which was full of seafood richness. Our mains of winter cod was delicious, and was a tad rich in taste. We were so full by then that we did not even consider dessert. Our male server sorry we did not remember his name appeared to be a little brusque at first but was actually quite a good entertainer and friendly.
Went here on April 8th 2024. Ordered gigas oysters, king krab, and fresh catch of the day. They tasted good, felt fresh. They also gave me complementary bread. I liked the king crab the most, as it had good condiment something like mayo with butter and felt really fresh with little hint of sweet. Fresh catch of the day was smooth in texture, broccoli and buttery sauce tasted good. Oysters were quite similar with the ones I had in my home country. Atmosphere was good, I enjoyed my time. The service was quick
Top shelf choice for foodies visiting Tromsø. Fiskekompaniet was already a legendary seafood restaurant, but the new generation of owners has even elevated the experience. Yes, it’s fine dining but not over snobbish. Exquisite raw materials, great kitchen staff and an impressive wine list. From the first greet by owner Martin, you will feel welcome here! I cannot move to this city because I would spend all my money at this restaurant.
While the ambiance and view overlooking the port are lovely, our dining experience fell short due to long wait times and inconsistent food quality. We ordered both the 6-course menu and à la carte dishes. The first course came an hour after we were seated, the second course about 1 hour and 40 minutes after, and the last course after 3 hours. Unfortunately, the king crab we ordered wasn't as fresh as we hoped and had a slightly sour taste. Despite this, the halibut and Arctic char were delicious. However, the extended wait times between courses made the experience less enjoyable. Given these points, I would be hesitant to recommend this restaurant, although the decor and view are truly delightful.
TL;DR - tourist trap-y quality fine dining Atmosphere was great and service was fine - a little slow at times and seemingly rushing you at others - I could be wrong on the second count. But the food was rather disappointing. Presentation was fine. Shellfish Plateau was mostly some small shrimp langostino? followed up with a bowl of mussels - the table next to us made the same disappointed comment when they got theirs. There's just so much of it as a standalone dish and not much variety in the same quantity that my partner said shrimp was the only flavor he could taste for a while. They also didn't give us a finger cleaning bowl that everyone at the table next to ours got for the entire duration of our meal, but we didn't notice til near the end and just used the bathroom sinks which only had icy water. The main course for the meal sets was an average-tasting cod dish. The dessert's crumble portion had some really hard pieces that were like large grains of sand and had to be spit out. The Jerusalem artichoke soup was very nice though. All in all, compared to restaurants elsewhere in the world, not worth such a high price for the food. But for this small city, it can be a viable pick just for the view and ambience.
amazing quality of fish and seafood. we had Vodfish, snow crab and king crab. pricy though it very much worth it. Will come again. and the service/waiter: outstanding!!Mat: 5/5
Interesting experience overall but missed the mark of excellence. From the four course menu, the dishes were nicely presented. The monkfish had an odd texture, almost feeling undercooked, though the waitress assured us that was typical for this fish. More than half the cocktails were gin and tonics, varying only on the type of gin. The first dish, chicken skin, tasted very charred and it was hard to distinguish much else. The second course had a healthy serving of fish with pickled radish which was interesting if you like fermented foods. Overall an interesting but quite expensive 1000 kr per person for 4-course and one cocktail and unfortunately underwhelming.
Hey, hey! 10.08.2023, ±7.00 PM. Me and my friend was there! If to be honest - we really enjoyed by the food, view and wine. The 6-menu was great and tasty! Respect for wine list. We've questions to whale... but ok, we ate I wanna say something about service there. It's zero, sorry. The restaurant with that prices, with that idea... I mean, in theory u can get a Michelin recommendation/star but u will not with that service... Very slow service by waiters, we were sitting without menu around 10 minutes. We asked twice to pour us wine, then we poured wine by ourselves... The wine cooler was on the table and the water dripped down directly on the table. And the food was cooking too long.... at 9 PM we had to leave the restaurant, so we left without dessert. This place about food, view, but not about service, unfortunately. Thanks for the tasty food!
Fiskekompaniet is an incredible dining experience in the heart of downtown Tromsø. Norway is known for some of the best food in the world, and this place exemplifies that! When we visited, we had a four-course meal, and the food was absolutely fantastic. Every dish was so unique and flavorful, taste was perfectly-balanced with every bite, and everything was presented perfectly and cooked excellent! This restaurant specializes in seafood dishes, and they even have whale and other extremely unique menu items to Norway! You can’t find these things anywhere else. The atmosphere was awesome, I really loved how this place was right on the water and walking distance to so many nice restaurants and shops, and the service was amazing. We will definitely be back when we are visiting Tromsø again! Well done to all the staff at Fiskekompaniet!
