Excellent food!!! The seafood in the Kaisendon was very fresh and delicious, and the Sukiyaki was exactly how I had it back in Japan. This place serves delicious, truly authentic Japanese food. The waiter was very attentive too!Mat: 5/5
The Japanese Dining Soto was god, but the location did not had proper fans to remove all the smelly food so your clothes needs to be rinsed and washed after a visit. We eat a great hot pot and enjoyed that. Superb service.Mat: 4/5
I've been going back and forth to this restaurant. When it was first a very small business, I mostly went there by accident. Then I tried their food and immediately fell in love. It's simple but effective. I've tried mostly all dishes at least once and love them all. I am a bit picky about food, and this restaurant has made some things I don't normally like to eat... well... edible. Now it's a slightly bigger restaurant than before; the atmosphere has improved, as has the size. I've been going to this restaurant for about three years and plan to keep going! Alternativer for vegetarianere: There are vegetarian foods like sushi, ramen, oden, etc. You could also ask the staff even as they happily comply.
Sushi was amazing. I got both the salmon avocado and the rainbow roll. Fresh fish, crispy tempura, and good rice made it for me. The tonkotsu ramen however.. Toncrapsu! It was a decent noodle soup but not what I expected from ramen. The pork was overcooked and rubbery, broth didn't have a great depth of flavour, the noodles were mush, and the toppings were green onions, cabbage, and broccoli. Stay away from the ramen!
Kjempedeilig japansk mat og enorme porsjoner. Mett i mange timer etterpå, enda jeg ikke klarte å spise opp alt.Mat: 5/5
I had the pleasure of dining at a Sato Japanese restaurant recently and I must say that it was an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was top-notch. The atmosphere was very inviting and the staff was friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience. The prices were also very reasonable and the portions were generous. All in all, I had a wonderful time and would definitely go back again
We have been eating on Japanese DINING SATO for so many years. WE LOVE IT . The main face , he's absolutely wonderful. Great welcoming as always. Wonderful food, ans when I am saying wonderful I am really HONEST . I HAVE OVER 4 MILIONS VIEWS ON MY REVIEWS ON GOOGLE MAPS AND I DO HAVE TO SAY AND ADMIT: JAPANESE DINING SATO IS THE BEST PLACE EVER
Genuine Japanese sukiyaki - simply amazing! Will be def coming back for more Mat: 5/5
Japanese Dining Sato falls far short of authentic cuisine with most dishes disappointing or outright terrible. We found most of our dishes to be subpar or downright horrible, especially the so-called "ramen". Karaage 2/5 The fried chicken pieces were overly large for a starter dish, making it nearly impossible to handle them with chopsticks. The chicken itself tasted dry and rubbery, while the batter was a far cry from the flavorful, crispy karaage we were expecting. The accompanying dip was a sour overload of mayo, ketchup, and too much rice vinegar. Yakitori 2/5 Once again, the chicken pieces were too large, and this time they were pan fried and coated in teriyaki sauce, instead of grilled on skewers. It was acceptable in terms of taste, but those giant chicken pieces didn't work as well. Gyoza 3/5 The gyoza were acceptable, with a strong ginger flavor. However, the use of pre-made gyoza skins is a major letdown as the consitency is wrong. Frog legs 3/5 Frog legs was just about what we expected, tossed in flour and deep fried. It tasted like a mix of chicken and fish and was good with the sweet chilli sauce on the side. Katsu curry 3/5 The katsu curry was edible, with a nicely fried pork cutlet and standard Japanese curry sauce made from ready-made curry blocks. However, the chef's addition of random vegetables - including pieces of pineapple, broccoli, celery, Japanese shimeji mushrooms, and tomatoes - felt out of place and confusing. Tonkotsu ramen 1/5 Calling this dish "tonkotsu ramen" is an insult, as the broth tasted nothing like it should. Instead, it had a flavor more akin to clam chowder, thanks to the chef adding some kind of milk product to imitate the white broth that comes from boiling pork bone for hours. The overcooked ramen noodles were soggy and soft, and the braised pork belly chashu was non existent, as the chef had just boiled pieces of pork cutlet, which resulted in no flavor and rubbery texture. The vegetables on top seemed randomly selected, making this dish taste out of place. Karaage ramen 1/5 The broth and noodles in the Karaage Ramen were similar to the Tonkotsu Ramen, with milk added to the broth for no discernible reason. The broth tasted bad, and the noodles were overcooked, topped with a random assortment of vegetables and the same terrible karaage from the starter dish. In conclusion, we recommend staying away from the ramen dishes at Japanese Dining Sato. While the portions are generous, the food lacks flavor and authenticity, making for an underwhelming dining experience.
Genuine Japanese dining experience in Norway. The restaurant's appeal lies in its homage to a more traditional and understated style of Japanese dishes. Our first visit was marked with Sake Nabe - a glorious seafood hotpot bathed in hearty drunken broth that is sadly not always available on the menu. While Chef Sato-san makes sushi, the most lasting impressions came from the generously portioned and well seasoned Gyudon and Sukiyaki-don. This rare stalwart of Japanese authenticity is one of our regular haunts in Oslo.
