- A new and unique way to experience Bergen. The very first design hotel in Bergen. Designed by top New York designer, Karim Rashid, as a “signature brand hotel”, with a total of 217 rooms.

Magic Hotel Solheimsviken is located in the popular Damsgårdssundet, close to the newly opened walk and cycle bridge to the city center.

public transport it’s just a 3 minutes’ walk to the nearest light rail stop at Danmarksplass.

ABOUT OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD
You will find us at Bøhmergaten 42, just above Danmarksplass in Bergen. Danmarksplass is located just south of the city center, in a region between Kronstad and Løvstakken. At Magic Hotel you will have excellent view towards the city centre and the mountains sorrounding the city. The unique location gives you a short distance to the city centre center, as well as all districts of Bergen and Flesland Airport. Both rail and bus has stop in the immediate vicinity.

Private parking is available at the hotel for an additional fee. Popular attractions such as the Hanseatic Warf, Fish Market, Fløyen and the city centre of Bergen can be reached by 20 min walk, or by bus – stop outside hotel or Bybane (LRT)– 2 min walk to stop.

I was pesimist and doubtful of this hotel before because of some reviews, but considering their affordable price compared to other Bergen's hotels, I finally choose to stay for 2 nights. Then they surprised me. The room was spacious enough for 3 adults, especially the bathroom. It even fit two queen beds. The sofa bed is the same size as the bed. But mind you not all rooms are as big as ours, so please confirm beforehand. Location is not in the city center so its not a noisy area. We need to walk 10-15 minutes to the nearest tram station, though there is a bus stop across the hotel. It's quite a hilly area so pushing around our luggages is difficult.. The breakfast room has amazing view of the city. Foods variety is not much but it's filling and delicious enough. Bonus point: they have a guest laundry room free of charge. The best thing is the staffs are very nice and try to be helpful all the time.
Magic Hotel in Solheimsviken is a good hotel a few tram stops from city centre and affordable by Norwegian standards. The rooms were great, only thing I found missing was the fridge, as I like to keep few things like cold drinks and sandwich ingredients for late night snacks, but there is a super market and a gas station downstairs. Breakfast was okay, I'm not a fan of Norwegian cheese or salami or bread or watery coffee but otherwise it's your standard hotel breakfast buffet, a bit crowded at times.
Eg hadde egentlig lyst å skrive noko positivt om noko i Bergen etter denne turen. Det vart ikkje heilt enkelt mtp hotellet. Eg spurde om eit stille rom. Det fikk eg ikkje. Røyrene på rom 354 hadde kanskje luft i seg. Det small iallfall frå baderommet ved jevne mellomrom. Det er anbefalt eit lydbilete med lydnivåer under 30 Desibel på eit soveromsmiljø såvidt meg bekjent. Eg veit ikkje kor høge lydene er, men for meg var det for høgt, det lykkes meg å fange opp eit av smella frå baderommet på videoen på klippet på linken. Lyden eg forsøker å beskrive er beskrevet på link i tilfelle videoen ikkje fungerer som den skal: https://iscribe.press/2024/08/01/eg-ba-om-et-stille-rom/ Eg har sendt klage til representant for hotellet men eg har ikkje fått noko tilbakemelding etter to veker. Det er for dårlig etter mine begrep. Fikk eg eit problem opp i hendene og betalte 1880 for å leve ei natt med dette problemet? Det vil eg hevde.
First the good: there is parking available underneath the hotel. For a small fee, you can assure yourself of a decent parking spot. The corridors and rooms were clean and sufficiently large. The receptionists were friendly and eager to help. The bad: there is no area in the hotel where you can just sit, relax and have a drink. Every space has its own function; either a terrace and sitting area or a 'silent area' all wide some sort of bar and vending machine. Luckily there is a Kiwi-shop right across from the hotel. More bad: the breakfast buffet is a complete disaster. There is not enough seating for all the guests and the staff - although they clearly do their best - are unable to keep the buffet going; there is a constant shortage of everything: coffee, juice, bread, cups, bowls for cereal...
A cosy place with very nice rooms. The breakfasts were good with a lot to choose from. It is in the centre, so you get around smoothly.Rom: 5/5
All of the staff interactions were good. While it was advertised that there was a luggage room that item could be stored before/after check in/out, but the room is unsecured where anything could easily stolen. There used to be secured lockers in the room, but all of the batteries were removed and we were told that they didn't work and leaving items there would be at our own risk. While it was nice staying at for a quick night, I'd likely stay somewhere else next time so all of our group could go into the city for after checkout instead of waiting in the lobby with the luggage. Rom: The rooms were a bit quirky. Everything was clean and seemed to be in good repair.
Bathroom sink is too small to fill a water bottle and the sockets in the room are only well placed for one of 3 people here. Scrambled eggs at breakfast are overcooked. But the view from the rooftop and the hotel esthetic is nice.

Parking is around 200 Norwegian crowns per day not free and the fitness center is down the road. The gym has no affiliation with the hotel and therefore also cost money. 99 Norwegian crowns per visit, to be exact. The description of this hotel’s facilities are misleading, to say it mildly. The rooms have no air circulation. If you want to be able to breathe at night, you have to open a window. That’s what the receptionist does at home, she told me. Problem with that, is, there’s two noisy roads in front of the hotel and it gets quite cold during the night. The breakfast includes all the items an enlightened mindful person wouldn’t dream of buying in the supermarket. After picking up a piece of crappy bread and yogurt, we had trouble finding a table. We arrived at breakfast around 9:30 and there was unfortunately no available tables, since the hotel was fully booked - said one of the staffers. There’s not sufficient light in the main room. Only a lamp on the table and two small lights over the bed. If you, like me, are a grown man of 190cm you’ll have trouble fitting in the shower. I had to shower with an open door, which resulted in a wet floor. There’s no drainage in the bathroom other than inside the shower cabin and no utilities to dry/wipe the floor. Først vil jeg si dette er et 3 stjerners hotell på det beste, kanskje det hadde vært et bra 2 stjerners hotell. Ikke la meg begynne med servicen fordi den var dårlig, både på restauranten og de i resepsjonen. Blant annet skulle jeg bare kjøpe en tannkrem i resepsjonen for 20 Kr og de ante ikke hva prisen var. Resepsjonisten løpte rundt for å finne prisen på tannkremen og til slutt når hun endelig fant ut hva prisen var etter å ha sprunget inn i heisen, så tok det 2-3 min å kunne få betalt. Hun sleit med å få lagt det inn på kortterminalen så jeg kunne betale. Her trengs det bedre og mye grundigere opplæring!!! For ikke å la meg begynne på frokosten. Her er det vannet ut eggerøre nesten hvit eggerøre, Berthas kaker som man kjøper i butikken bare kuttet opp, og elendig med utvalg. De hadde ikke engang det vanlige egg,bacon og bønner. Her måtte vi klage på rommet med engang fordi de prøvde å gi oss et dårlig rom uten en gang dusjkabinett. Vi fikk heldigvis nytt rom, men dette manglet air condition tross det er midt på sommeren når vi var der.. Ikke å anbefale! 3-stjerners hoteller fra kjeder som thon, scandic. ta heller å betal de ekstra få lappene for et skandic eller Thon hotell Anbefaler Raddisonblue som er veldig godt og sentralt i bergen
Very bad breakfast. Good coffe is important but you cant have that in this place in the morning. Staff is nice. Rooms are clean. But super uncomfortable when it comes to all the switches, lights etc. Design is quite bad.
