Opus XVI - Edvard Grieg Heritage Hotel

I et av Bergens mest ærverdige bygg er vi nå i ferd med å realisere prosjektet Opus XVI. Sammen med huseier Vestenfjeldske Eiendom, Grieg arkitekter, interiørarkitekt Metropolis samt entreprenør Kruse Smith bygger vi Bergens kanskje mest unike hotell, restaurant og kulturarena.

Familiens slektskap til Edvard Grieg gav oss ideen om å skape et genuint hotellprodukt der historien om Edvard Grieg kan formidles av hans etterkommere. Vi ønsker på en spennende og interessant måte videreformidle Edvard Griegs historie, samt knytte bånd til dagens musikk og kulturliv.
Nøkkelen til at konseptet skal bli troverdig og genuint er familiens tilstedeværelse, de ansattes kunnskap og de produkter hotellet tilbyr, herunder samarbeid og relasjon til viktige kulturinstitusjoner i Bergen.

One of the most beautiful, luxurious hotels in Norway. We had an excellent time here, from check-in to check-out thanks to: 1. Stellar service—we were greeted with champagne and a valet to ferry our luggage. We also got some great food/sightseeing suggestions from our concierge. 2. Beautiful decor and rooms—a true 5-star room, from the bedding to the decor to the space and views. 3. Ideal location—this is right in the middle of everything you could ever hope to do in Bergen. Rom: Luxury Aktiviteter i nærheten: Everything in town is a short walk away Sikkerhet: There’s no crime anywhere in Scandinavia at least compared to the US Fremkommelighet til fots: Central to all the food and shopping in town
Opus XVI exceeded my expectations by a lot! First off, live piano music during check-in and breakfast was such a lovely touch. From the moment we stepped into the lobby we had the most relaxing experience staying here. Our room Elizabeth mini suite was perfect for a couple who enjoys a little extra space. Laundry, daily turn down service, and delicious breakfast buffet were the features we appreciated most about our stay. Every detail was elegant and well thought out. Thank you so so much! We hope to return again sometime. The only thing to note is that it can be quite loud, especially on Saturday nights. The front desk was able to provide earplugs and that helped us sleep better! The bed and linens are incredibly comfortable and luxurious. Sikkerhet: We felt the location was very safe, front desk was always open, and the street was quiet with the exception of bars/nightlife on weekend evenings. Fremkommelighet til fots: Close to the city center, train line, Bryggen, and several beautiful parks. Right where you want to be! Interessante detaljer: Turn down service, luxurious bath products, comfortable linens, robes, and slippers. Our suite included chocolate and a bottle of local apple cider. Delicious and thoughtful!
Superior hotel with the most comfortable and cozy beds and bedding I can recall. Updated beautiful decor that reflects history, elegance and charm. The lobby has comfortable and elegant seating. Check-in was quick and friendly. We were offered a beverage which was a nice touch. Breakfast was included in our stay. Choose from the menu or serve yourself at the buffet. Service was slow as we waited for coffee and steamed milk on two separate occasions. There were several servers so this was surprising and unfortunate as we had to leave early for a boat tour. In the evening we came late for a cocktail but the kind and friendly bartender served us anyway. Thank you. Highly recommend this elegant hotel.
The restaurant section is the best restaurant in Bergen. You can eat high quality level dinner or lunch, cheaper than fish market. It is the best one in city center. Good service with delicious food.Rom: 5/5
Tusen takk Opus XVI for at dere gjorde bryllupsdagen og dagene i forkant og ettertid perfekt. Alt har vært fantastisk fra første møte, og dagen vår ble fullkommen. Maten var fra en annen verden og kakene vi bestilte fra konditoren deres er de beste vi har smakt. Servicen fra jeg satte foten inn på hotellet til vi sjekket ut var ikke annet en perfekt. Fantastisk behjelpelige ansatte så langt øynene kunne se og lenger. Spesielt tusen takk til Ivar som sto på og ordnet for oss før og på bryllupsdagen vår. Det var en fryd å ha bryllupet vårt på Opus XVI og vi gleder oss til å feire jubileumene hos dere i årene som venter. Tusen takk!
We absolutely loved this hotel because of the location, the service, and the attention to detail provided by the staff. We stayed 2 nights and we were graciously welcomed with apple cider and walked to our room by the front desk staff. We had an elegant breakfast that was included and the 2nd morning breakfast was packed to go for us due to an early flight. We found the bed to be the most comfortable of all the hotels on this trip. Turn down service every evening was such a nice touch. You can walk anywhere in the heart of Bergen in 5-10 minutes from the hotel. We loved the history, the building is very old and used to be a bank. We hope to return someday!
Very nice hotel with a great breakfast. The rooms are modern and have a good size. The location couldn’t be better as it’s right in the city center walking distance to museums , the fish market, the pier, and famous Brygge.Rom: 5/5
It is stunning hotel that is part of the small luxury hotel of the world chain, located in the heart of Bergen. The hotel's central location meant that everything was easily accessible by foot. One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast - it was exceptional. The breakfast spread included a buffet as well as à la carte options, all featuring high-quality ingredients and food. During our stay, we really enjoyed the turn down service which included daily complimentary bottled waters placed on our bedside tables. Additionally, the hotel featured a small, but well-equipped gym, and even had its own museum dedicated to the life and works of Edward Grieg, providing an interesting cultural experience during our stay.
Ingen over,ingen ved siden. For et fantastisk sted med rik historie. Fantastisk service fra vi kom til vi dro. Nydelige omgivelser og kort vei til alt som skjer i Bergen. Rommene er rene, nye og sengene er en drøm å sove i. Vi hadde dessverre kun 1 natt her,men kommer selvfølgelig tilbake neste gang vi er i Bergen. Det er høyt nivå på frokosten og det setter ekstra preg på stemningen at de har en som spiller piano.
We stayed at the Opus XVI for one night before boarding for our cruise. Our previous Norwegian hotel stays were amazing. Opus XVI was not. In the old historic part of Bergen it was a renovated Edvard Grieg hotel. Its lobby was majestic, however the expensive room was tiny and the bathroom wasn’t meant for 2 people staying together. The restaurant food was barely average yet also expensive. We had dinner with a menu that didn’t offer much for a vegan my partner or for me. I originally ordered the Jaergen beef but after giving the waitress the order I had changed my mind and wanted the lamb instead. The waitress had a bad attitude from the moment we came in. She lectured my partner about water in Bergen’s quality and slammed the bread basket down on the table. She was extremely put out that I had changed my mind and continued to lecture me about how lucky I was that it wasn’t cooked yet. Our food came out and it was very unappealing. The Cabbage dish for my partner was pathetic. The lamb was just ok. We were not eating at Golden Corral. Our experience was very disappointing. It is important to note that the Front Desk people were very nice and accommodating. Lesson learned for us to look further than the best reviews.
