Would definitely recommend. It's great seeing those old things and reading more about the history of WWII. It's also sometimes very ironic when you see how the same arguments made by the Nazis are the one being used by Zionists nowadays to keep killing people in Gaza. It's also ironic how the resistance's arguments are the same ones used by Palestinians nowadays. At least Norway stands with Palestine, so they're no hypocrites.
It's part of a large area full of historical spaces. Medieval castle Akershus Festning is very beautiful and very well preserved and dates back to 1299 and became a fortress in 1592 and was rebuilt as a Renaissance castle between 1637 and 1648. The small church houses the royal sarcophagi. Akershus Castle today contains banquet halls, the royal mausoleum. The castle has also been used as a military base, prison and government reception rooms. You have to plan a good time to go and previously check the schedules to visit all its areas.
I must say the Museum impressed me deeply. It is near the akerhus fortress so I didn't expect much and visited it on the way to the next location. The Museum serves as a reminder of the brave Norwegian individuals who fought against the occupation during World War II. From the moment you step inside, you're transported back in time. The exhibits are meticulously curated offering a comprehensive and immersive look at Norway's resistance movement. Through photographs, artifacts and interactive displays visitors gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those who dared to resist.
This museum is dedicated to the Norwegian resistance during the German occupation of Norway in World War Two. There are useful displays, copied of newspapers from key dates during the war, and much else to see. There is information about the fate of Norwegian Jews and how the Germans defined Jewishness and classified different degrees of Jewishness depending on how many of the grandparents were Jewish. The displays of the return of King Haakon VII from his exile in England at the end of the war is quite moving. An important part of the history of resistance and the cooperation between the British and Norwegian fighters during the war.
A beautiful museum. This museum tells a very personnalised norway specific side of the nazi occupation and does so incredibly well. The museum paths are slightly confusing at times and a clearer instruction to stick to the right could be made AT the chain dividing the staircase. This is also one the best decorated museums ive ever visited. The wall decor on the section on occupation with chains and barbs and barbed wire IS second to none and really brings the exhibition to life I recommend taking an Oslo pass for convenience and cheaper transport

Excellent museum dedicated to the Norwegian resistance and occupation durning WW2. Great visit especially if you are a history fan. Highly recommend having google translate on hand as not everything is in English.
Great little museum if you want to learn about Norwegian resistance against Nazis in WW 2. Need about 1 hr, but well worth it if fan of history
Very detailed, I like the enactment they do with the figurines. Very informative.Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesJa
I found this to be a great little museum. It is filled with artifacts that make it all so real. I got many of my questions answered about the occupation and the role of Norway in the war. I have seen others say that there should be more in English but I found it sufficient. Lots of the letters and such are in German but the impact gets through. It is a bit dark to read some of the narratives, especially those on metal. Lots of effort has gone into the scenarios. If you have an interest in or learning more about the German Occupation and the war overall, I would definitely recommend this.
