This place was super interesting! Our guide was super nice and told everything in a very interesting way! We paid 90 NOK for adult and 60 NOK for a student. We saw a film about the history of the power plant then got a great explanation by our nice guide. After that we went alone to the power plant itself and read all the great information, looked at the turbines and the control room. We spent about 2 hours and it was a very nice activity for a rainy day in the area when you can’t hike…
We spend a few days in Odda in March and went to the Norwegian Museum of Hydropower and Industry. We planned to stay an hour but in fact we stayed much longuer. The surprise was that the guide was viscerally passionate about norwegian history and geopolitic related to hydropower and industry. Thanks to her and to the quality of the museum we spend a great and fascinating time. The machinery is also spectacular with very big turbines and marble controle table : We defintely recommend this museum wich is one of the attraction to see around. After the museum we followed the advices of the guide and went for a walk along the pipes up to Lilletop. Getting on top in winter is difficult but possible with an adequat equipement. The view at the top is mindblowing !!
Definitely worth a visit! Also go for the guided tour at the Lilletopp station, where you get to walk in the old water tunnels! The movie and guided tour at the museum is a must! Great guide :
Vi hadde et fantastisk flott besøk på Kraftmuseet i Tyssedal. Vi var der torsdag den 17. november. "Kraftkatedralen" er et fantastisk bygg. Stor takk til Annett!!
I visited the museum on 22nd August with my 2 children. This was good place to visit. There were lots of information on the history of the site as well as some good stories written by the workers. I would very much recommend a visit and is not expensive.

It was worth the detour; enthousiastic guide, great architecture and a serene atmosphere.
A fascinating step into history. This Museum is a true gem! Walking through the museum felt like stepping into a different era. The impressive turbines and generators from the early 1900s and an atmosphere that's almost cathedral-like. The staff were incredibly friendly and eager to share their knowledge, adding to the immersive experience. The informative film detailing the start of the hydro power plant was a highlight, providing valuable insights into the history. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone intrigued by the marvels of hydropower.
Interesting museum. I don't understand why it is cloed in weekends..
