The hotel is in need of a renovation and a thorough cleaning of the elevator. When asking the reception desk regarding turning down the warm air blowing continuously on to the bed in July the person got a little snippy in his retort and blamed the guests for opening windows all over. Ankom hotell og jenta i resepsjonen brukte mellom 30 og 40 min på å sjekke oss inn. Hun sa det var nytt system!! Da vi endelig skulle få trekke kortet sa hun at vi betalte dagen etter ved innsjekk,,,det var så mye tull.Vi kom opp på rommet og der var det iskaldt,varme i gulv på bad funket ikke,noe vi ga beskjed om med en gang. Vi bodde der i to døgn,det ble ikke fikset. Vi ønsket å ta en øl nede i restaurant men ble forvist til et annet rom uten utsikt siden det var kun for middagsrester,det var ingen der. Kun to poser med kaffe på rommet, vi måtte spørre etter mer. Da jeg ved utsjekk sa det med varme på nytt sa han at vi skulle hatt nytt rom. Ja,, det skulle vi men litt seint etter 2 døgn. Meget ukoselig i resepsjon og her tok de altså 25 kr for kaffen som ellers er gratis for boende gjester. Her bor vi ikke igjen,ingen kompensasjon ble gitt.
Det viktigste med et hotell, er at det er rent, serverer god mat og har serviceinnstilte ansatte. Her får Scandic Kirkenes full pott. Lite er mindre viktig enn såkalt "datert" bygningsmessig standard. Har stor sans for bygningsmessige tiltak har lengst mulig levetid. Byggrenovering, jobbreiser og turisme har et vanvittig miljøavtrykk, da er det jammen fint at det finnes hoteller som setter bærekraft foran ropet etter tidsriktige fliser på badet.
Great hotel…. Except that fact when I booked I booked a superior extra room see pics and what they put me in was a “standard room” —— when I asked reception about discrepancy the “man” said I was in a superior room and when I mention the photos and price difference between superior and standard he said those photos are from “2018l” —- so you’re deceiving people into getting a superior extra room at higher cost but giving them a standard room which should be less price!! Just update your pictures ! Most people purchase based on what they see!
This was a great little hotel in the center of the small city. Our room with twin beds was plenty spacious and it was a real bonus having a bathtub with amazing hot water. WiFi was good. Breakfast had a variety and was delicious - plenty of good coffee. As we arrived by ferry, we were there too early to check in but it was easy to leave our luggage in a big locked storage room and wait in a very nice lounge area before an afternoon activity. Normally the bus stop from the harbor and to the airport stops right by the hotel - but we arrived the night of a sled dog race into the city center, so the bus was re-routed to stop on the Main Street below the hotel about 2 blocks away. I would absolutely stay here again. Hotel was great but we needed gluten free and there didn't appear to be a choice for that in the restaurant for dinner. Breakfast wasn't a problem. However this was the case for most of the food we could find online, so not unique - just a heads up. We ended up with things for dinner from the nearby Joker.
my wife and i booked a double room for a leg of our honeymoon. The room we were given was a pullout couch. It was essentially half of a suite. No bed. Nobody pays to stay in a European hotel to sleep on a pullout sofa. A pullout sofa is simply not a double bed. A bed is a bed and a sofa is still a sofa. When we attempted to have the rooms switched the front desk wanted to hassle us about it. When our room were so graciously switched. The bathroom was obviously not cleaned. Holes were visible in both the tub and the tile in the bathroom. The grout on the tile was clearly filthy as well. Our refrigerator had cardboard taped to the front of it. You can tell this place once was decent maybe 40 years ago. No effort or money has gone in to maintain this hostel in the meantime however.
Lite sørvisvennlig. Kan ikke rokke på ,mat bestilling. Eldre folk, kan plutselig ikke ønske å spise middag.Rom: 3/5

Resepsjonenisten ble spurt om mulighet til litt tidligere innsjekking, mot tilleggs betaling, det ble uhøflig avvist. Air condition anlegget bråket utrolig og alt for høg temperatur, for å få sove måtte måtte inntaks ventilen tettes til med et håndkle. Frokost var bra, men tomt for melk og kalde speilegg. Flyttet til Thon hotell for de tre siste dagene i Kirkenes.
