Out of the 50+ hotels I have stayed in throughout Norway, this has probably been the best. Great location in the center of Kirkenes overlooking the water. Very modern rooms. Friendly staff. And most importantly, amazing breakfast Rom: 5/5
Great staying in this hotel, really beyond expectation!! Superb view, tasty dinner, very nice room, super kind service and a breakfast quality and choice that we have rarely found anywhere else and we travel a lot!. I really recommend to spend at least a night here.
Honestly deserves a much higher rating than 3 stars. Very classy hotel overall, commons, rooms and staff included. Beautiful breakfast room, very attentive staff. Had a nice talk with the manager who was starting his holidays in our own city, Nice, France coincidentally. Funny. Only thing to improve would be the parking, having it tarmacked would improve the parking experience especially when it rains so much. Lots of power outlets including USB A USB C in the rooms. So convenient. Great bathroom as well. Clean.
Room 301 is a suite, a nice place overlooking the water, and I couldn't fault it. The bar downstairs was pleasant; the barman was enthusiastic, and I liked him. We didn't eat; we'd gone on a king crab fest, and a kilo each later, we were in no fit state. The crab offered in the restaurant was live and authentic but half the size and cost twice more than our crab catch and dinner and boat trip to the Russian border! However, my big gripe was the woman at the front desk; we'd cancelled the pre-booked taxi, and she wasn't happy. Made out she couldn't find my booking in room 301 until I simply started to leave, then suddenly found it. Then tried to lecture me about my bookings. We got the hotel manager to sort it out. Be warned, beware the snarly 60-year-old, and it's great. The best bit? Probably the BEST BREAKFAST in Scandinavia! Amazing, do it. Enjoy. Dump the old crow at the front desk and let your guests enjoy the place. I'd then be rating you 5x. Thx.
Very well equipped room, with extra such as Bluetooth speaker and coffee machine. Located on the edge of the harbour for unblock view of the sky. Too bad the weather is cloudy to see northern light. Find the blanket too tough and generate plenty of static charges. So keep getting electrical shocks getting out of the bed.
The location of the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The room in which I was staying faced the sea. The sunrise was mesmerizing from the room. It feels great to be waking up to a view like that.Rom: 5/5
In September 2023, we drove from Rovaniemi, Finland to Kirkenes and needed to eat dinner! Thon hotel was the only place in Kirkenes open at 6pm, so we parked, walked in, and asked the host if there was room for 2 for dinner. He said yes, and I'm so glad! My date and I shared a plate of local selection - dried meats, cheese, crackers, jam. I had a reindeer steak, and my date had halibut. The mashed potatoes that came with the halibut were devilishly good, thick and buttery. The portion sizes of reindeer and fish were great. We were so satisfied with the taste and presentation of our food. A really great experience after driving all day! The restaurant overlooks the water, so if there was more light outside, I bet the view would have been spectacular.
Location excellent and the rooms are good and clean. All tours can pick you up from this hotel and it’s right on the waterfront with nice views. The customer service was not good however, one receptionist in particular with red hair was unfriendly and rude. We came to reception to ask about tours and before we said anything she said abruptly and sternly “I’m busy”. Was a bit shocking. Staff in the restaurant were nice and friendly.
Veldig fint og ryddig hotell, frokost buffé var nydelig med mye og velge i. Rom: Rommene var fine de likte at det var mulighet å Chromecaste til tvn så man hadde litt muligheter Mat og drikke: Maten var god
Breakfast is awesome and the views are amazing. Room is small for 2 but has awesome amenities such as a heated floor in the bathroom, I think a 60” TV and a Bose Bluetooth speaker for you to enjoy your music. Rom: Windows can be opened so that it’s not so dry in the night. Sikkerhet: The rooms take awhile to lock. So don’t just walk away. Remember to unplug your key card from the electricity socket and wait for a minute for the door to activate its lock.
