The standout feature of this viewpoint is its remarkable design, which is supported by just two pillars. However, it tends to be very crowded, so visiting early in the morning is advisable. For an even more stunning view of the fjord and valley, I recommend driving a bit further and taking a short, easy 10-minute hike. This alternative spot offers a truly breathtaking perspective.
The highlight of our trip! So beautiful, surrounded by mountains and waterfalls! Drive up is not for the faint of heart. Don't forget to keep going up the mountain for a change in scenery!
Dope viewpoint, and while its views are like many other places in Norway, still worth the visit. Jaw-dropping vistas and a bathroom that is not clean but has floor to cieling views of the fjord. We visited the view point in the peak of winter and were the only souls around. We risked frostbite to be here and it was every bit worth it. The endless fjords and the contrast of snowcapped mountain with water is breathtaking. The route leading upto the point is equally splendid. Must visit by road if passing through Flam.
View was awesome however road to the viewpoint is very narrow and windy. In the off season, as long as no snow, I think it’s better as the traffic isn’t too bad. Disclaimer: we were here during winter time which sees substantially less tourists than summer so we were only people at the viewpoint. During summer it can be very crowded with cars and people. It can take 1-1.5hrs to go up to viewpoint particularly when there are cruise ships. We took the mini bus from Flam and drive took 25-30mins can be arranged in tourist office, if you don’t have a car best option though kind of pricey for the short drive. The view is absolutely worth the visit - beautiful panorama of the fjord!
An absolutely amazing viewpoint that you must visit when you are in the area! There is a steep and winding drive up to the viewpoint, but there is parking and bathrooms at the site. Bathrooms are closed in the off season You can see sweeping panoramic views of the mountains and the fjords. It’s a popular place for photo shoots, of course!
Fantastic views of the fjord, mountains and valley from a viewing platform that juts out from the hillside giving a spectacular vantage point. We made the drive to the top early in the morning and I was grateful not to meet any buses on the narrow winding road to the viewpoint. We saw a couple of sturdy hikers and bicyclists who were both prepared for the long climb and apparently unaware of the strenuous trip they'd undertaken. Coming early allowed us a few minutes alone at Stegastein after a tour group departed. Well-worth the trip even after seeing other beautiful Norwegian scenery.
Always worth to visit. Doesn't matter if is winter or summer or another season. Most important to be there when no rainy weather. Best in the winter time is to ask at the tourist information in Flåm if the road going up there is safe and clean from snow. : good parking place.
