This is an excellent place for family fun. My 6-year-old loved everything here, and so did I. It is in a beautiful location and gives you a perspective on how it used to look. The guided tour starts every half hour, and I highly recommend it even though I’m usually not too fond of it — it is clever, funny, and very educational. The only thing I didn’t like at all was the food at the Viking restaurant. And it was the only place during our two weeks vacation where we were unlucky with a dining choice. So I’d recommend eating elsewhere and having a Viking village adjust their menu to modern days. Otherwise, it's a great place to visit!
The idea is nice and we had an okay time. Just didn’t get the open learning feeling from the voluntary group walking around the place. Most acted a bit distantly instead of encouraging to try stuff. But if you travel with kids, definitely should visit it. We spend max 2 hours here, we did the guided tour and walked around. It’s smaller than you think!
Great experience for young and old. As you tour a replica Viking village, you will also have a guided history of life in that era. Learn about their history of war, daily life including ship and boat building, gods and beliefs, making of wool, and farming. Story tellers will share their daily life as you step back in time. You can try out hatchet throwing, archery, or test your swordsmanship, dressed as a viking. A fun 2+ hour excursion.
It is quite an experience. I get to know the vikings story and their way of living. Plus there were live interactions with the people dressed up as old vikings and let them experience the work, life and leisure they have/had. The door fee is pretty expensive though. But overall if it easnt raining, it was an excellent one!
Amazing experience like no other through and through. The moment you park in front of the valley and look around you, you get hit with an incredible sense of being stuck in your childhood favourite fantasy movie by the unique scenery surrounding you from all the directions. In the valley you get to look at the authentic viking lifestyle, non hollywood romanticized history lessons and a gift shop of hand crafted viking items. If you're lucky, you'll catch the fair, where you can either buy hand crafted weapons or even a full armor for the daring ones. Hell, you can even get an authentic viking tattoo inside for which I'm definitely coming back.
Definitely do the guided tour it's free with admission they run once every half hour and ours was about 40 minutes long. Included lots of very interesting information about how the Vikings lived. Tours in EnglishBesøkte stedetPå en helgedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesNei
The village itself was fun, but the most memorable surprise was the Viking Cafe in the back. The food was honestly really really good, much more than I would expect from a tourist attraction site. The meat stew and the grilled meat I forget, both lamb I believe? were excellent. The quality was like a homecooked meal but very well prepared. If not for the Viking history, I do recommend this spot for the Viking Cafe in the back! Note: the cafe is not to be confused with the cafeteria at the front of the site, they are different restaurants.
Overall a very unique experience. Highly recommend the guided tour so that you can ask questions and understand what you’re seeing. The restaurant is very traditional, and thankfully they warn you. Even being warned, the food was challenging to eat but still rewarding to experience a traditional local meal.Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesJa
I had an excellent time here learning about a typical viking village. The people who run the place are not actors, they live there and live the lifestyle. The sounding area is gorgeous and the village is really cool and educational. I do recommend bringing cash.
Passer fint for familier. Flott beliggenhet og fint laget. Men litt begrenset med info i forhold til historie, med mindre du aktivt oppsøker de som jobber der.Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesNei
