Read about the Technology - Telemedicine and e-Health - Master's degree at the Computer Science Department of the University of Tromsø. Official information at: http://uit.no/for-studiesokere/programside?p_document_id=268106 and http://mit.cs.uit.no
The discipline offers a technological study programme that enables graduates to contribute in the developement of systems and applications for medical informatics, telemedicine and e-health applications.
The problem formulations for the experimental activity are derived from medical technology.
The aim is that the students should be able to contribute in the design, adaptation and maintenance of telemedicine and e-health systems.
Courses in medical informatics, telemedicine, e-health, computer science, physics and mathemathics play a key role in the programme.
The programme includes theory, experimental work and application of the knowledge in practical projects. The focus on both general and specialized knowledge of theoretical and experimantation apects in the design of complex design of complex systems in the health design of complex systems in the health sector also enables students to participate in developement of complex systems in other areas.
During the programme, students take both ordinary computer science courses and specialized courses in medical informatics, telemedicine and e-health. It is also possible to take courses in physics, specially intended for medical imaging. Students at the technology field of study will be expected to have experience and knowledge in computer programming.
The point of departure for the course is the research activity at the Department of Computer Science and in the telemedicine/e-health environment locally as well as internationally. The last half-year of the programme comprises a master's thesis, which may be completed at the department, in industry or at a research institute in Norway or abroad.
