Wonderful hotel with loads of history, personality and style. Great location. The service was so fantastic. We arrived in a torrential downpour in quite a disheveled state and Simon at the front desk provided one of the highs of our whole trip. He was so welcoming and informative and made us feel like family. He even helped us book our onward journey right at the front desk!nOur room was lovely and the extensive breakfast buffet was delicious.
Very hip hotel. Decor was cool. People working there were very nice and tried to be responsive…nnHowever, they did not honor our booking request for connecting rooms despite multiple emails prior to arrival with the hotel confirming this.nnThen we were moved to rooms with no working air conditioning. Their solution: small fans. No attempt to move us or fix the problem.nnI was told we would at least get a discount for our inconveniences and be emailed promptly after we left with resolution.nnStill waiting….nnIt may be best to forego the “cool” and find an established hotel brand with commitment to service.
A good hotel in the most ideal location possible. However, a few things were still quite disappointing by five star hotel standards:nn- The bed was hard and uncomfortable. There were no giant hotel pillows as most five star establishments would have.nn- They started playing music right outside the room in the early morning, on the hotel speakers. This is a very odd choice, and was quite unwelcome.nn- The TV in the room had practically no channels. You can spring for a full selection of channels when you're this premium of an establishmentnn- The shower only had a shower curtain, which felt very out of place. curtains are terrible for showers, they stick to your body while you shower and are decidedly not a premium experience.nnIf these four things had been better, this would've been a perfect experience.
Pigalle is a charming 1920s style boutique hotel in the heart of Goteborg, the perfect location from which to explore the city, and we spent 5 nights there.nnWe were a bit disappointed with the size of the rooms, which are tiny, and the bed, which was way too soft for our liking. Our room was also in the same corridor as the restaurant's pantry, which meant that the space always smelled of fish, and thus our room as well. But the worst part is that we couldn't control the a/c in the room, so we were constantly too hot, and even if we turned down the temperature, the a/c would eventually switch itself off during the night.nnAlso note that the one side of the hotel is on a main street and there is construction across the street, so it could be very noisy in summer. We were there in winter and there was no noise to speak of.nnOn the plus side, the staff are wonderful: always friendly and helpful, and the service is top-notch. The breakfast is excellent, with probably the best scrambled eggs I have ever tasted. However, the dinner menu is very limited, so we actually had to venture out for dinner, which is a pity. The bar snack menu is also very limited, perhaps french fries and a ham & cheese sandwich would be good additions.nnI really would like to recommend this hotel, but the cramped rooms, the nasty smell, and the lack of control of the a/c prevents me from doing so.
The whole hotel is super dark, no good light as a person with bad eyesight I struggled to find buttons on the elevator, the door number etc.nReceptionist is way too “happy” to see guests like she’s high, sounds very superficialnThey’re giving you tickets with the breakfast time, and you need to be stressed to come on timenBreakfast tables are located very strange, no logic hostess at breakfast are rudenThe whole hotel atmosphere is creepy, starting from being dark, the moaning woman sounds when the elevator arrives to creepy pictures and mirrors everywhere.nUncomfortable hard bed.nThere were Coca Cola bottles in my bathroom from previous guests so I guess they don’t really clean properly.nUncomfortable shower, I had to push really hard to open the water tap and regulate temperature, cracked sinknNo place for parking even for 15 mins for leaving luggage.
