Review of Kesar in StenungsundnA solid visit with both highs and lows, but ultimately a place worth stopping by if you’re craving Indian food in Stenungsund.nDespite the restaurant being less than half full and staffed with three servers, I had to wait nearly twenty minutes for a single beer—and eventually had to remind them about my order.nThe environment felt uncoordinated and a bit chaotic.in a typical Indian way.nTo their credit, the beer was cold and good once it finally arrived, and the server offered a sincere apology for forgetting it.nnThe butter chicken was served quickly—about twelve minutes after ordering—and delivered on flavor. The sauce was excellent, rich, and comforting. The naan, however, was slightly dry and over‑toasted, lacking much taste on its own, though dipping it in the butter chicken sauce helped a lot. Generous chicken pieces and well‑prepared rice lifted the overall meal.nnThe surroundings are surprisingly pleasant; the restaurant manages to feel authentic and inviting, making you forget you’re sitting inside a shopping center. The view toward the sea and guest harbor adds a nice touch.Overall, Kesar offers good Indian food with room for improvement in service coordination.nnStill, if you’re in Stenungsund and in the mood for Indian cuisine, it’s a place worth visiting.
We found this restaurant when we were driving from Gothenburg Sweden to Oslo, Norway, and it is the greatest gem. The food is delicious. The people who work here could not be nicer, and when will you ever get a better view when eating Indian food. It’s right on the marina and so you’re looking out at the boats in the water and it is such a pretty setting. So even though you enter a mall to go to this restaurant, don’t think you’re really eating in a mall. You’re eating in a restaurant that is on the water and it’s a really nice atmosphere and excellent food. We are traveling from the states for a short time and eat lots of Indian food in our regular lives, and this food stands out!.
We ate there on a Monday due to a lack of alternatives restaurants are usually closed on Mondays. We arrived around 3 pm, and while they still had a lunch menu, we opted for the regular menu: Mixed Tandoori Platter, Butter Chicken, and Garlic Naan Raita. The garlic naan was okay. The Mixed Tandoori Platter was an outrage. Everything on it was absolutely inedible and dry. Ironically, the food was served within just 5 minutes, suggesting that, given its burnt and dry state, it was never freshly prepared. The butter chicken was just as dry, the raita had a strange taste, and the house wine was a disaster; vinegar would have been more palatable. The good reviews here are a complete mystery to us.
I had no idea that the paradise of indian food was located in the little city of Stenungsund. : Amazing food and very service minded staff made our visit to a fantastic gourmet experience.nIf you pass by Stenungsund, or happen to live there, don't hesitate to make a visit.
Really loved this Indian restaurant. I've eaten at a few Indian restaurants in Gothenburg and this one is one of the best. Lots of different choices on the menu. I took a fish curry with salmon and my husband tried some grilled lammbiffar. We also tested the paneer pakora and the paneer chili naan. Plus, 3 mango lassi to wash it all down. Everything was delicious! Will definitely try them again and certainly recommend it to anyone in the area.
