En av Sveriges 3 aqueductor. Två ligger utmed Göta kanal between Linköping and Borensberg
In Ljungsbro, the Göta canal passes one of the two aqueducts along the Göta canal. The aqueduct in Ljungsbro was built in 1970. The canal crosses the road, so you can look down at the cars while the boat passes.nnAnother aqueduct like this one in Ljungsbro is a better solution than building a bridge over the Göta canal, according to the Swedish Transport Administration. Photo: Ingegerd Svensson Yajjou There could be another aqueduct along the Göta canal. The Swedish Transport Administration thinks that the cars on the E22 can pass under the canal outside Söderköping.nnIn 1970, the Aqueduct is inaugurated In November 1970, the new stretch of road between Blåsvädret and Ljungsbro community was opened. It happened without any major ceremonies. The Road Administration's people moved away some trestles, Which blocked the entrances to the road, and so the traffic could start to roll forward under the Göta canal, as it does today.
Special experience, fun to drive over!
Ok, but unspectacular. The display board with the story that the aqueduct leaked right after it was built was honestly the most exciting thing…
