Nordic Watercolor Museum

Beautiful building, although I hoped there will be a permanent exhibition regarding beautiful landscapes surrounding the museum. I came across an exhibition of works by contemporary artists - not connected to the landscape at all, which for me was a drawback. Although I'm not going to judge the works because everyone has different tastes. Overall - definitely worth a visit, well maintained - with café / restaurant and souvenir shop.nI really recommend visiting nearby island which is connected to museum area by a bridge ! Views incredible, breathtaking.

Mostly large tempoary exhibitions. There is also a room where you can sit ans draw yourself, a cafe and a restaurant. It's easy to find and has quite a lot of parking, free for 4 hours.

Fantastic location, museum and exhibition at the waterfront of the Swedish west coast. Skärshamn itself is worth while a visit , but make sure you include a visit to the water colour museum as well as the well stocked water colour museum shop.

First of all, the museum’s seaside location is breathtakingly beautiful, regardless of the time of year when you visit.nnIn the summer, there are several great places on the adjacent wooden piers and cliffs where you can go for a swim and work on your burgeoning summer tan.nnWhile the museum does have a popular restaurant and café, from around late June, a half dozen nearby seafood restaurants open up .nnTo be totally honest, as a visual artist, my preconception of watercolor as a medium wasn’t overwhelmingly positive when I walked in to the Nordic Watercolor Museum.nnBut after spending more than an hour there, I now have a totally different opinion and a lot more respect for the artists that paint with watercolors. I was also genuinely impressed with the museum’s curation and exhibit design.nnFolks, this is a top-notch destination for art lovers of all ages – in a stunning seaside location along Sweden’s spectacularly gorgeous west coast.nnHighly recommendable!
