Scandic Strömmen

The only advantages this hotel has are its location 2 minutes walk to the train station and bus station and its beautiful lobby.nnThe hotel had an occupancy rate of at most 30% this was obvious as there were very few check ins or check outs during the two hours I spent waiting in the lobby nor were there any at 12:00 when I deposited my suitcases but they don't allow to check in before 16:00 unless you pay an extra fee.nnThe room has design flaws, ie the lighting is very bad as is the choice of lamps yellow instead of white.nnThere is no kettle and no free hot water to make tea or coffee.nnInstead they have coffee machines that I would not use had they even been free.nnThe heating can not be regulated and is very weak the bathroom does not have a heating rack which is strange for Scandinavia.

Went for a drink around 22 at the lobby and it was crowded with loud children running around and yelling. At the breakfast between 8-9 it was the same story. I couldn’t hear my own thoughts.nUnfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a calm and enjoyable weekend.

A nice hotel, very friendly staff and a great location both for walking into the centre and also for the station and bus links. My only complaint is that there’s no air conditioning in the rooms. There’s a temperature control unit but I was advised by reception that it doesn’t really work. At least my room had a fan in it.

Unfortunately, my experience with this hotel was very disappointing. The staff was extremely rude and uninterested in helping – no information was provided about parking availability, either at the hotel or on the street. When I asked about the possibility of an earlier check-in, the response was visibly annoyed. Even standard information was not explained – instead, I was handed a sheet in Swedish and expected to find everything myself. Even the breakfast time wasn’t listed and had to be asked separately. I haven’t had such a poor experience in a long time, very disappointing.nnAdditionally, the breakfast area is clearly undersized for the number of guests – it took quite some time to find a free table.

I give 5/5 overall! Only thing I didn't like is that I couldn't open the window and that the rooftop pool was busy all the time and I didn't get the chance to sunbathe in it. I wish if Scandic Strömmen had big rooftop swimming pool!
