Wow we have been really surprised by this place . As the reviews were average and the restaurant is not listed in the main Swedish guide for fine dining , we wanted to give it a pass . But then we heard from a local that the main chef has changed recently and that it was now good food again . So we booked a table and got a very nice seat on the closed veranda overlooking the western entry into Marstrand harbour . The house belonged to king Oscar II who used it as summer residence. Lots of history . Large part of the current crew running this place are professionals from Austria who work here in summer and go back to Austria once skiing season starts down there . We had caviar, Swedish oysters from Orust and a really good veal filet with asparagus, lobster and gratinated potatoe , finishing off with tarte tartin and peppermint sorbet. Great champagne and French red wine . The service was impeccable and very friendly and with this and the food quality it tops the French inspired Swedish restaurant in the town centre that we visited two days earlier . So good food , splendid view , nice service and a historic surrounding . In my view the currently best place for fine dining in Marstrand .
great view and nice service. don’t forget to taste the burger from lunch menu, one of the best burger i’ve ever eat.
Very good food and amazing outside area!nnWe tried the shrimp sandwich and the burger on their lunch menu. Both were very good. The portions are very big though and even my husband that can eat a lot had never seen such a big serving of shrimp for one person! But luckily the shrimps were very good!nnThe fries with the burger were also super crisp and tasteful!nnThe location is great and we got a seat outside which I would aim for!
This beautiful old building is falling apart! Poor maintenance and on top of that they only offered a basic bar with no cooled beverages during last nights event!
