Historie

The Fram Museum is a museum telling the story of Norwegian polar exploration. It is located on the peninsula of Bygdøy in Oslo, Norway.Fram Museum is situated in an area with several other museums, including the Kon-Tiki Museum; the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History; the Viking Ship Museum; and the Norwegian Maritime Museum. Bygdøy Royal Estate, the official summer residence of the King of Norway and historic Oscarshall are also located nearby. The Fram Museum was inaugurated on 20 May 1936. It honours Norwegian polar exploration in general and three great Norwegian polar explorers in particular—Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup and Roald Amundsen. The museum also exhibits images of the fauna of the polar regions, such as polar bears and penguins. The Fram Museum is centered principally on the original exploration vessel Fram. The original interior of Fram is intact and visitors can go inside the ship to view it. Fram was commissioned, designed, and built by Scots-Norwegian shipbuilder Colin Archer to specifications provided by Norwegian Arctic explorer Fridtjof Nansen, who financed the building of the ship with a combination of grant monies provided by the Norwegian government and private funding in 1891.

"Being the most famous wooden polar vessel in the world, Fram is a symbol of Norway's significant participation in the heroic age of exploration.Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup and Roald Amundsen took turns in exploring new areas in both the Arctic and Antarctic on this amazing ship, designed and built by Colin Archer."

It’s a great museum that testified and recorded the encouragement and the dedication of knowing the unknown. This museum was very well designed and layout that the visitors can base on their own interests or time to explore on their own past. We spent about two hours in here and went through up and down the ship, imagining we were on the ship at that time was incredible. There are many records and movies that you can really take your time to read or view. There even a cold box that simulating the coldness of Antarctica which my wife went through it twice. There are also two other marine Time Museum that you can buy tickets for all three with discounted prices. Highly recommended for you to visit if you come to Oslo.
Went as part of the Oslo pass. Was quite interesting to learn about the polar expeditions and their living conditions. Top off the boat was a bit dark. Inside was quite good to see the scientists and crews living quarters. Good as part of the 3 museums day out.
This museum is great! There is so much engaging detail that traces the journey to the Antarctic here that creates a narrrative interesting to everyone. I loved the photos of clothing and the opportunity to board the Fram. This was all the more exciting with the simulated weather and benches that rocked to and fro. Highly recommended

Amazing slice of history - well preserved and well presented. There’s so much to see and to take in, enjoy! I was there when the door opened, so I just got in ahead of the hundreds on the busses that started arriving not long after.Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesNei
We really enjoyed visiting this museum. Explain with simple stories and with some activities along the way. It was great to know the ship from inside. The ship is well preserved and we could smell the stories that it has to tell.Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesNei
Great museum to for explorers. Very fun to be able to sit onboard and enjoy a little ride simulation. And great books to buy at the gift shop for reading during the rest of our trip and for keepsake.Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesJa
Great museum! Lots of information with lots of reading too, so be warned. The two ships are very impressive and can be entered. The informative movie in the small movie theater is great, so check that out. Tickets were 140 NOK per person.
Loved the old exploration era ships and plane. Really makes you feel small in both time and space to realize how much people have done to explore the outer edges of earth. Very cool that you can enter the ships and iglo, but would've loved a little more interactive routes, like the small challenges they had in the bigger ship with knots and fun facts/quiz questions.
Very cool design and a super informative museum. The displays were interesting and easy to follow. A great place to visit if you're into history or adventure!Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidMinst 1 timeForhåndsbestilling anbefalesIkke sikker
