Norsk hermetikkmuseum

Info

Norsk hermetikkmuseum ligger i en tidligere hermetikkfabrikk.

The Norwegian Canning Museum is located in an old cannery.

It is at the same time canning museum, printing museum and reconstructed old house. So you find a lot of info there. If you buy ticket to this museum you also will be able to visit maritime museum, which is in five minutes by foot. But it much less interesting that this one, imho. I have set only four stars because it could be a little bit better organized canning part was hard to follow even with numbers on boards.
Very interesting museums, once through the Printing exhibits I understood the tie to canning-labels, sales material and advertising. Well laid out exhibit of the history and evolution of the fishing, canning and sardine industry. Had a great lunch in the cafe!Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesNei
Interesting, modern exhibition There are two museums in one place: typography museum and canning museum. You start your tour with a TYPOGRAPHY exhibition which shows you history of a typography, WWII propaganda pictures and information influence nowadays. Second part is a CANNING MUSEUM. Actually it’s really interesting museum which shows the whole process of producing canned fish. Everything is very clear, you can also try to play it if you’re visiting the museum with a guide : The museum isn’t big, so it’ll take approximately 1.5 hours to see all the exhibits. There is a small restaurant on site. Your tickets are also valid for other museums in Stavanger in the same day + with this tickets you’ll have a 50% discount for Oil museum.
Quite an unusual museum showing the history and production process of cans. Worth seeing the collection of can lids with astonishing colorful pictures, it's a pity that nowadays cans do not have such colourful labels. Buying a ticket here allows you to visit other 7 museums in Stavanger within one day within MUST - MUseums of STavanger
Interesting museum where the focus is on two industries, the canning of fish as well as history of writing, media, marketing and lithography which was kind of a byproduct of the aforementioned. The mix between modern media and original exhibits makes the whole experience really appealing to everyone. Also the traditional house showing living situations from the 1920s and 1960s is a nice touch.
Lovely museum, in addition to the canning section there is also, behind the scenes areas of the factory to visit, a mock up of workers housing and some dress up opportunities for children.Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesNei
Good museum which we enjoyed having a quick look around and daughter liked playing with all the rubber fish. Not sure why I had to leave my bag behind but at least they had lockers. If you only have time for one museum though, the oil-rig one is even better!
Very good museum u can see the history of Stavanger … and very helpful the people who work at museum they were there to answer every question we had
We got tickets for entry as part of the maritime museum, and had 1hr to fill. But we were pleasantly surprised how good the museum was. The printing part was really informative and very interesting to understand how printing and fishing and canning went together. The canning museum was brilliant and was very hnafs on being set up like a canning factory. Staff were super friendly, and the cafe looked great too.
Very good place to learn about history of stavanger. It was very interesting to know about the life of Norwegians 200 years ago. There is a guide and we can also dress ourselves like those labourers who worked in the early days. It was fun and we could experience how they worked. We could see and experience every step in the process from fishing, cleaning, cooking and packing. We could also taste some baked sardines. Must visit place in stavanger. Entry Ticket price 110 - 140 for elders and Kids below 6 is free.
