Meatballs for the People

One of Stockholm’s most famous places for Swedish meatballs, so it was our very first stop after arriving in the city. We really liked the presentation and the sauces served with the meatballs. The lingonberry sauce wasn’t exactly to our taste, but it paired surprisingly well with the meat.nnWe tried the Pasta Linguine & Balls and the Planksteak For The People. The linguine dish was excellent—the pasta and sauce were so good that we’d happily come back just for that. As for the meatballs, we preferred the beef version. The reindeer meatballs felt a bit heavier and tougher for our taste, so we’d recommend the beef option if it’s your first visit. Also, make sure to try the garlic bread and the craft beers recommended with the meatballs—they were both excellent! nnThe restaurant is smaller and more casual than we expected. Since it’s very popular with both locals and tourists, there’s often a queue outside. They don’t take reservations, so everyone waits in line for a table. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our visit.nnDefinitely one of Stockholm’s iconic food spots and well worth a visit if you’re in the city.

This place came up on multiple recommendation lists and it did not disappoint! We were seated at the bar in front of the kitchen, so we had a really nice view of all the work going on. The ambiance in the restaurant was warm and lively. And the options! Sooo many meatball options, and the option to veganize the classic swedish plate was so nice. Super smooth, rich mashed potatoes and delicious sauce on the meatballs! Definitely a must-try for any first-timers in Stockholm.

This was our very first meal in Stockholm, and we found it completely by chance while wandering through Södermalm, which somehow made it even more memorable. Located in the middle of SoFo, this restaurant is entirely dedicated to Swedish meatballs, offering a wide range of varieties including vegetarian options and more adventurous choices like wild boar, moose, and even bear. nnStumbling into a place like this on our first night, with zero expectations, turned out to be the perfect introduction to Swedish food culture. The setting is bright and wood forward, with long communal tables and a lively, convivial buzz rather than anything formal, which made it easy to settle in right away. We went with a mix of classic and more unusual meatball varieties, and every plate delivered, rich, well seasoned, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Everything is handmade using organic, locally sourced meat, and you can really taste that care in every bite. nnThe mashed potatoes were especially good, wonderfully creamy, and the accompanying sauces ranged nicely from rich classic gravies to lighter options. Service was friendly and efficient despite the buzzing atmosphere. A brilliant, lucky first find, and a fantastic way to kick off our trip. Highly recommend seeking it out.

Meatballs for the People is a fun Swedish meatball restaurant with a great variety of meat options. You can choose from chicken, pork, beef, or even venison — and mixing different meats is also possible. They even offer vegetarian meatballs for those who don’t eat meat.nnI chose the classic beef and pork mix, and the meatballs were excellent — firm in texture, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Paired with lingonberries and pickled cucumbers, the combination of sweet, sour, and savory flavors made the dish really well-balanced. The mashed potatoes were also incredibly creamy and delicious.nnI also tried their homemade lingonberry juice, which was refreshing with a nice sweet-and-tart flavor, similar to cranberry juice. A great place to experience Swedish comfort food!

It was ok. It’s decent meatballs and you get a lot of varieties…nnBut I think the taste was not outstanding / more special than options you have throughout the city + the wait time was very very long for us during lunch hour.nnIt was ok if you want to try but not worth a special trip out.
