Clarion Hotel Bergen Havnekonterot is a clean hotel with a cozy lobby good when it is pouring outside and also has a great pianist in the afternoon. The staff is superb and make the stay wonderful- the front desk staff, the really kind kitchen staff who prepare insanely good breakfasts and dinners with so many options including veggie options, even those who clean the table after breakfast- literally everyone is so friendly- it truly made the stay memorable. Love the view from the roof of the hotel also!
This hotel is excellent. Service is excellent, room is squeaky clean and luxurious, and the food is very good. They serve you a buffet breakfast and dinner, all including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. My wife and I are very impressed with the Clarion Collection line. Be sure to head up to the tower if you can--it's beautiful around and after sunset. Bed are large enough for 6' 3" man + wife. We had a double bed, no smoking, the standard room they offer.
The Clarion Collection Hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of the entire historic wharf, and has a lovely clocktower available as a scenic lookout. The rooms are quite a tight fit if you have larger suitcases in a retrofitted historic-building way but manageable, and the dining is good. That said, for most tourists on a sightseeing schedule, it would be extremely helpful if breakfast was offered before 7:30 a.m. I also did not appreciate having to ask the front-desk clerk for coffee at 7 a.m. I watched her deal with admin and suitcase issues, then claw-grab two cups by the rim to serve me and my spouse. When I slipped over to the self-serve machine in the closed dining room to have a second cup, she chided me for doing so and told me I should have come to her at the desk for it. I did not wish to debate how unsanitary her service had been, but it was not the easiest way to start the morning, and 7 a.m. access to the self-serve would solve that.
It's actually hard to judge this hotel, as its a hotch-potch. The staff are great, that can't be denied, and the location is close enough to stuff, but not mad busy. The hotel, though, is probably disappointing. Stayed here for 5 days recently, and it looks good but it's somewhat surface, under the nice frontage, There's a load of small, cheap, rooms in some new annexe. Breakfast is just about OK, the fika, pointless, it's just some pancakes, and the 'free' evening meal, well, it's office canteen food, not awful, but that's it. I wouldn't put anyone off, but if you want a top end hotel, it's not that

My family had a great stay in May 2023. We stayed for 3 nights in the family room. Spacious & cozy room, we slept well throughout our stay. The complimentary breakfast, evening tea lovely fika time making waffles & light dinner not light at all, it was a full course and beyond our expectations were bonus during this stay. Not to forget the view from the rooftop overlooking the port & the fortress. I would recommend Clarion to whoever visiting Bergen!
Great location, stunning view from the tower remember to get the key card from the reception. Was fortunate enough to stay there during sunny conditions, whitch is rare. At the end of Bryggen, close to all fascilities, restaurants, grocery store etc. Old style, and unfortunately a couple of flawa with my room. Flickering spot light, none working tv, worn down bathroom. B_ut clean! Great staff, by the way. Nothing but smiles and helpful hints
We booked a Deluxe King room but was given a smaller room with a full size bed. Tried to get it corrected next day and was met with a lot of resistance. Front desk manager insisted our bed was King when it clearly wasn't. The room also was very different from pictures. Thankfully, one staff agreed with us and we were able to get moved to the room we actually booked. I have pictures to prove. Front desk agreed to refund the price difference but gave me lip service everyday while we were there. Finally on day of departure they told me it would show up in a few days on my credit card. Of course it didn't. Instead, I got an INVOICE a week later and they claimed we drank two bottles of wine from the minibar. Of course we never did. I emailed them again about the refund they promised. They told me since I booked through Expedia, they couldn't refund me anything. Funny how the story keeps changing. I had to go through my credit card to finally get the difference refunded. Mistakes happen and I would never deduct any stars if the hotel had done the right thing and owned up to their mistakes. By the way, based on reviews I see online, it seems to be a frequent mistake they make to guests!! If you book a king size room, it's very likely you'll get a full size bed. Rom: If you book a king size room, you are very likely to get a full size bed. Mat og drikke: The free dinner is very good.
