Good hotel, good price, brilliant location a couple of minutes from airport bus and fish market. The only downside is the drug users who hang around the square outside. They don't cause any trouble except that they are still shouting and talking very loudly in the early hours of the morning.Rom: 4/5
Great location and a pleasant welcome. Breakfast had a good variety. The room was small and the maintenance absent - broken blind so they would not close and hence hard to blockout the daylight; bed side light did not work; window opening and closing mechanisms broken on all the windows; the sheet did not cover the mattress; housekeeping must be stretched as we had to go and ask for toilet paper; the bin not emptied, and it goes on. We mentioned the issues with maintenance to the front desk and it was brushed over. Norway is expensive, as expected, however we did not expect such a poorly maintained hotel. It is closer to a 2 star hotel.
The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Definetly not a 4 star hotel. Pros : Good location with easy access to most attractions and mountain Cons: where to begin The hotel itself is so poorly designed that a lot of the rooms don't have real windows. By this I mean the windows don't open or they lead onto the corridor so if you have your blinds open everyone would see you ... the fact they don't open wouldn't be a problem if the hotel wasn't so hot. There are no thermostats in the room that work nor was there any air con meaning the whole building is so stuffy and hot. And smelly at times The design of the hotel is also not very professional as the entrance is through the supermarket and underneath is a club so if you get a room near the club area its loud till past 1 most days. If you've come here for a quiet stay , this is not the hotel. Outside the hotel there is always gatherings of homeless people doing drugs , I saw someone using a needle to inject themselves ... not what I'd like to see on my lovely holiday in Bergen. The breakfast was OK. Nothing crazy. It is only open until 10 so there isn't really a chance for you to sleep in if you want to. The bathroom is a horrible design where the shower screen is too small for the shower and the whole floor floods. We had to use all our towels each day to clear up the water. Overall this hotel is a 2* at best , super disappointed as I feel like where you stay is really important. I would never recommend this hotel or come back.
I liked this hotel, the corridors feel you're on the starship enterprise! We had two rooms, an internal one with no windows and one with a window with some natural light. The internal one was mine and I loved it, very nice room, altho after an hour I had to go outside for some natural light so it's not somewhere I could hang out long. We were busy out and about so this was fine. There was aircon, not super cold but perfectly doable during some hot days and our rooms both had fans and I set mine up by the bed so this worked fine to allow me to sleep at a decent temperate. Free coffee/tea in the lobby, and the receptionist who checked us in was lovely, the hotel also gave us a packed breakfast for our six am departure on our last day, which I thought was very kind!
Great place to stay if you're in Bergen. I has a single room for my stay and it was pretty small but it was clean, which is most important to me, it was comfortable and had a nice bed. Breakfast was ok and the staff was friendly and professional. The location, right in the city centre is amazing! I stayed at this hotel for two nights. Everything was enjoyable to me. The room was clean and the reception was friendly. The location is excellent, right inside the city center, so It is close to all of Bergen's attractions. Also, on the ground level, there is a chain grocery that sells everything you need and is open till 11 PM. There is a sufficient variety of breakfast options, So don't worry about your food limits. Additionally, the lobby has a coffee machine that works all day.
A unique place. I signed up for a single and did not realize this meant a room that was the size of a double mattress plus 2 foot area to access the bathroom. It was well ventilated though. I asked to be moved since I was staying 4 nights and my room was upgraded to a room with space to have your bag out and a small window for the last 3 nights. Reception was very helpful. This is in the old part of town so expect some oddities with the room and layout. Overall a great experience. Very close to tours.
interior rooms are overheated no aircon , external ones are not provided with proper windows in order to guarantee any sufficient quiet in the nighttime. the place is settled above a famous pub that closes at 3:30 am even on weekdays. other reviews mention these same issues, so avoid this place if your needs might be compromised by this lacks
This is a conveniently situated hotel in the town centre, close to many points of interest making it easy to explore everything on foot. My room was quiet and clean but lacked some basic comforts, including a window, which made my stay not so comfortable. Breakfast was good. Overall on the pricey side for what it offered but, hey, this is Norway prices. Sikkerhet: I felt safe to walk in the area. Fremkommelighet til fots: Within walking distance of many POI.
I’d like to open my review with positive comments so here goes… great location to all Bergan has to offer. Walking distance to restaurants, the fish market, shopping, etc. Staff were friendly and helpful but most importantly they understood our concerns. The beds were comfortable. We stayed in a suite so our room was larger than other travel partners. The down side is hard to know where to start. The hotel entrance is shared with a small grocery store. I guess that’s a positive but most rooms don’t have a mini fridge and the hotel itself doesn’t offer water or ice. There is coffee in a community pot by the lobby but it wasn’t very tidy and supplies were scarce as far as cream, etc. The room itself had bleach stains on the black carpet, orange bacteria growth around the bottom of the shower, stained shears, and ripped sheets. The worst is yet to come. Just outside the entrance is a population of folks that are gathered day and night doing drugs. Our stay was 3 days and we were awakened each night around 3am by the people gathered outside. The hotel staff admitted they have an issue and are trying to resolve it with the city. Honestly, this is a 2-3 star hotel. The bathroom shower had no real barrier for water so after showering the entire floor was soaked so be sure to get extra towels. Lastly, the vanity was so tiny we didn’t have space for our toiletries. We will never return. There is a beautiful hotel right around the corner so give yourself a better stay elsewhere.
