A very cool hotel to stay at before a cruise. Rooms are modern and functional. Service is great. Small balconies to view the harbor. A great rooftop bar with excellent mixed drinks. The restaurant actually two, one roof top and one downstairs was very good, and room service was very good. A great breakfast spread too. Aktiviteter i nærheten: Easy walk to restaurants and waterfront. Sikkerhet: A nice area Fremkommelighet til fots: Close to city, can walk.
Great decor, boutique feel with great location. Room was well designed - quiet with great blackout blinds and comfy bed. Shame that the main bar was closed "for the season". We were hoping to experience the midnight sun on the rooftop bar, but it was booked out to a party.
This review is for the Spa only. Overall - was underwhelmed vs other high end spas id been to. Water tap was broken inside w staff not attending to an alternative - hammam was also closed, broken - a few of the special showers were also not working. Sauna was excellent and steam room was quite good. They allowed a man to do laps in the small spa pool which hurt the ambience as well. Massage was subpar - even after specifically asking for focus areas and increased pressure I received neither. For the price point - not sure I’d return.
Stayed here on our honeymoon! I can't recommend this place enough. Excellent room we had a view of the water and Akershus, delicious food you must get their set lunch, breakfast also amazing and amazing people! The location made it easy to get to everything but was very quiet. Everyone made our 4 night stay so special we didn't want to leave. If I'm back to Oslo we will be staying at the thief for sure! Highlight of our trip from an accommodation standpoint. I wish there were more hotels out there like this.
The Theif was fantastic as always. We love the area it is in and the service and welcome is always first class. The staff are always friendly and helpful. We stayed for a week to see if we could work remotely while having a break in Oslo and it worked brilliantly. Well done The Thief - see you next year!! Rom: Our room was a junior suite so it was nicely appointed and gave us adequate space to be able to work and relax. Aktiviteter i nærheten: There is a contemporary museum next door. Lots of excellent restaurants within 10mins walk from the hotel. Sikkerhet: Very safe. Fremkommelighet til fots: Fantastic location for all the best shops and restaurants in the harbour area. Mat og drikke: Excellent food, if a little pricey.
Generally, the hotel is very nicely made. Rooms: As often in the Nordics, relatively small, but nice. The shower is uncomfortably small and it takes forever until warm water is coming to the 6th floor. Location is pretty good to discover Oslo - everything is in walking distance. Spa is small, but ok 1 sauna, 1 bath, 2 steam bath and at extra cost. But: It's definitely not a 5 star hotel: - At 10pm, you can't get a drink anymore neither through room service nor through the rooftop bar - Housekeeping takes forever: Day 1 the room wasn't done until 3pm, day 2 the room wasn't done until 5pm Rom: Small, but nice. The best thing about this hotel is its location. I’m not sure if it’s Norwegian type of hospitality but house keeping was so average. They don’t vaccume the rooms, they don’t put water bottles in the room daily, they don’t put tissues when finished, as well as ear buds and all that stuffs. No turn down. The bed cover is small that’s put on the king bed, they need a bigger size. Breakfast is nothing special, not even cereal but I guess this is the best hotel in Oslo and that’s the best that the city can offer. Don’t come in with much high expectations but the overall hotel stay is good. I have yet to find a hotel in Norway with international standards.
I am an Elite Titanium Marriott member. This was the worst stay I had in 5 years. I booked a 4 night stay and checked out after one night. The air conditioning was not working, and the front desk admitted to me it was very weak and could not help me at all. The Mattress was paper thin and soft and only was able to sleep 3 hours last night. See my pictures and videos as proof. The location is good and the breakfast was very good as well. If you can't sleep the night, what good is everything else. They also told me all the mattress in the hotel are all the same, which is horrible. I have to say they did give me 1000 nok refund due to my issues but not sleeping, and no air conditioner is not worth it at all. Rom: The mattress is so terrible that it sags so bad my knees and back are in pain
Stayed in large one-bedroom suite with two balconies. It’s obvious that this was a very fine luxury hotel…when built in 2007. Our room has original artwork. Nice furnishings. But it’s now showing its age. Thankfully, I understand it’s currently being renovated. And it’s full of idiosyncrasies. Instead of normal light switches, both rooms had a large 4-button mood setting cube for virtually all lights in each room—except the one in the bedroom was not functioning. And at 10pm, the hotel’s sole non-speaking English speaking maintenance man was unable to fix it…and hotel had no manager on duty. Then there is a fancy, nice Bluetooth speaker…without directions and impossible to synch without a careful walkthrough on the phone with reception. We enjoyed their breakfast buffet in beautiful dining room.
A beautifully located hotel. But unfortunately the rooms are not clean, the carpets not vacuumed and toilets with stains and dirt left by previous guests. I had to request to clean the room after we checked in as the reception refused to move us to another room. The housekeeping is pretty much useless, just hollow apologies and no effort to help. The rooms are very dark with a few lights not working, and the housekeeping is clueless coz everything is third party and not their job. A very poor concierge/reception with no intent to help or support. Overall a beautiful hotel absolutely wasted. Rom: Contemporary room, but not clean or well lit.
