EV charging in the downstairs garage.nnstrong wifi. dog friendly. breakfast buffet was great. we had dinner at their restaurant. definitely go with the mussels and fries.nnright in downtown and close to a park to walk the dogs. trash cans are plenty.
I really enjoyed our stay here. The room was very nice and spacious. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. The only thing that fell short is they keep their Sauna too cold. The pool was nice and I enjoyed my swim. In the room we had an electric kettle, mini fridge, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Friendly and helpful staff.
Recently attended a regional course at Gävle's premier hotel, and there were several areas where I believe improvement is crucial, particularly for those with special dietary needs. Despite advanced notice from April 19th 2022 for gluten-free and lactose-free options, the offerings were limited and quickly depleted during our three-meal service. When alternatives ran out, the solutions provided were less than satisfactory, such as a limited selection of sorbet and dry cupcakes. This was unexpected, particularly in a country like Sweden known for hospitality.nnAdditionally, guests requiring a gluten-free diet may find the breakfast options sparse, with a small section allocated for plain, dry bread. For a leading hotel in Gävle, the service mindset could be more inclusive, especially for guests with specific dietary requirements.nnRoom-wise, there were challenges as well. Our initial conference room was inadequate for an 18-person group, though a larger space was provided the following day. General accommodation areas need updating, and the black toilet seats in the bathrooms make it difficult to assess cleanliness. The lack of floor heating, commonly found in Swedish hotels, was also noticeable.nnOverall, there's significant room for improvement in hospitality, dietary accommodation, and facility updates. Potential guests or event planners with special requirements should consider these factors when choosing accommodations in Gävle.
We stayed in a family room. And to be honest, from previous experiences of 4 hotels, this one is very much closer to a 3 hotel.nnFirst impression is that the reception is amazing, the staff super friendly and that you're going to have an amazing air-conditioned experience this was at the height of the 36-40degrees Celsius heatwave.nnOnce we go to our room, we were extremely disappointed. NO air conditioner! A fan was made available, but I have never ever been in a hotel that didn't have air-conditioning! Second, our fridge had the previous guests' left overs .nnThe pull down bunk bed revealed grubby walls from sticky fingers nnShower!!! I attached images because that glass divider between the shower and remainder of the bathroom was highly ineffective. Flooded bathroom every single time for four days.nnBreakfast, on the other hand, was heavenly with a lot of choices, including a waffle maker but....super sticky grubby floor if you arrived after 9:30-10:00am after several messy eaters nnAll in all, if you have young kids, you might appreciate it more than if you have older teenagers and you spend a lot of time in 4-5 hotels.nnOn the other hand, this stay was directly followed by Nordic Light in Stockholm that is the same group, but aimed at business travelers. That was definitely a higher end hotel and worth its 4.
Pleasant and caring staff. Rooms are very good. Recommended for families.
