Hotell Varvet

We stayed here recently and the first impression was not great.nIn the bedroom there was only one bedside lamp and no ceiling light, which made the room very dark in the evening.nThe toilet was extremely small and cramped – for someone 1.90m tall it was almost impossible to use it comfortably.nnPart 2 after the hotel’s replynnThe apartment was nicely refurbished, very clean, and the bed was comfortable.nnHowever, the nights were extremely warm – everyone woke up around 3 a.m. We had to sleep with the window open and the blinds up to get some air, but it didn’t cool the room enough. There is no other way to ventilate the apartment without leaving the front door open, so by 5 a.m., the sun made the room very bright. The cleaning staff were very friendly and even brought us a ventilator to help cool the apartment, which helped a bit.nnAs mentioned before, the toilet setup does not allow sitting normally, even for someone shorter than 1.90 m e.g. 1.70 m, which is unexpected for an apartmentnnWe also missed some basics in the apartment, like a dish brush, dishcloth, and dishwasher tablets.nnWith a few improvements in these areas, the stay could be much more comfortable.

No control in the restaurant. Booked a table three days up front, the pink haired floor manager had failed to transfer the confirmed booking to her paper chart, completely caught by surprise of our showing up. Horrible table, no lamp or other light, just a candle glass with no candle. My wife could not get her quite narrow hip to fit in the cold steel chair. Lit tables with better chairs half level up. Mostly vacant. She could not help us wanting to change table, making up weird stories to make it all seem planned?!?! 35 minutes until asked if we were ready to order, even though there was only 5 tables set. Dessert never arrived. We were asked to pay while waiting for desserts, still trying to enjoy the wine.nWe were here for the sailboatshow. A crowd willing to pay from 500’-2500’ euro for a Hallberg Rassy. They chose a heavy metal karaoke band for entertainment, they started playing mid dinner. No other restsurant to choose without driving far. Airbnb and homecooking if we ever come back.

no clean linens in the bedroom. no staff onsite to help or assist guests. worst hostel i have ever stayed in

The restaurant and staff deserve 5 full stars! Warmly recommend. Had lunch 2x. Fish & chips!

We rented a small cottage, called Kapellet. The accommodation was otherwise fresh and well-maintained, and the area was very nice. But already on the first night, at around 03:30, the whole family woke up in panic from a very loud howling inside the cottage, similar to an alarm. After a long while we were able to establish that the sound was coming from the code lock on the door and finally managed to silence it.nWe informed the landlord about this the next day, but the problem was repeated the following night, which resulted in another night of disturbed sleep for the whole family. The children's sleep was particularly negatively affected and this unfortunately ruined our stay in Ellös. When we told him about our very sad experience after returning home, we unfortunately received no feedback.
