It's a must see museum when in Stockholm, one can see from anywhere when visiting old town, we can get tickets while enteringnIt's a multi storey building, recommended to start from the 2nd floor to start the last 1400 century artworks, and from that historic era come to modern works and recent advancements in art and paintingsnnIt's a big and we can spend 3 to 4 hrs easily to have a good view of the placennGround floor it has a store to buy souvenirs and books and paintings copiesnnIt also has small restaurant and a community hall usually busy during summer time
A wonderful museum filled with different types of artwork. There was a room filled with Swedish artwork, another one filled with Swedish furniture through the years, but my favourite ones were the ones with the statues and European paintings.nnIt’s worth going early in the day so you don’t have to right through it like I did.
The National Museum is simply spectacular and an absolute must-see for anyone visiting Stockholm. The newly renovated building itself is breathtaking—a perfect harmony of tradition and modernity that sets the stage for the treasures inside. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was captivated not only by the art but also by the sense of history and culture that fills every corner of the museum.nnThe collection is vast and wonderfully diverse, spanning centuries of European art and design, with an especially strong focus on Swedish and Nordic works. Paintings, sculptures, applied arts, and design pieces come together in a way that feels both impressive and approachable. What I particularly loved was how thoughtfully the exhibits are arranged: the storytelling flows naturally, making it easy to appreciate masterpieces by world-famous artists alongside lesser-known but equally fascinating works.nnThe museum also does an excellent job of being inclusive and engaging for all types of visitors. I found the interactive installations and detailed descriptions very helpful in deepening my understanding, while still leaving room for personal reflection and wonder. The staff were kind, welcoming, and clearly passionate about the art, which made the experience all the more pleasant.nnThe café and museum shop are also worth mentioning—both beautifully designed and a perfect way to complement the visit. And with its location right by the waterfront, the National Museum offers stunning views of Stockholm, making it a cultural and aesthetic delight inside and out.nnIf you visit Stockholm, don’t miss the chance to step into this treasure house of creativity and history—it’s a place that truly lingers in your memory.
If you are visiting Stockholm this is a lovely art museum to visit. There is a good representation of a variety of mediums. Additionally, it is a beautiful building. Don't miss the ceilings in the restroom area - they are amazing! We also had lunch there, and the daily offering was delicious and service so quick
