The place is cool and has a nice spa, nevertheless some of the rooms are in clear need of maintenance.nnThe room I was assigned, 633, had a shower were you could only choose between skin burning hot and even hotter than that water.nnThis is unlikely to be an issue that appeared suddenly.nnWhen inquired about the shower issue the reception personnel insisted I use the shower in the gym instead which felt fairly unprofessional given the price of the rooms. Only after I had pointed that offered them me the possibility to move to a different room instead where everything worked as expected and I could rest properly.
The room had a horrible sewage smell. It was impossible to leave the bathroom door open.nThe dinner was under expectations - dry smoked fish and bad wine. The steak was ok. The dessert was terrible.nMy friend hurt her toe in a nail that had come out of the floor on the terrace.nThe receptionist was incredibly slow and needed help from another colleague.nWe will book something else next time.
Location/general impressions of the hotel:nEasily accessible from main motorway, E6. Hotel faces the sound so fairly beautiful with marine vistas. Easy parking outside the reception, which looks quite good alongside the bar area. When you enter the corridors there’s a rather stale smell but it looks clean. I’m suspecting remains from smoking after renovating two old smoker’s houses I know that smell permeates ceiling panels and everything. The building rests on a hill so you enter on level 6. You can get the lift to level 1 and exit; there’s a beach bar/cafe looks good and food looked good. There’s a sand volleyball net there, sun beds, waterside sauna and area for swimming in the sea. Really nice! There are also steps up to the spa area.nnRoom:nWe got a standard room which was okay. Clean, fair size, but felt like a motel as the windows were facing parked cars. Pillows were not good; seemed like we got half a pillow each, and the bed was okay but not good. Honestly we sort of suspected given the price point. I suspect this room would be insufferable in hotter weather.nnDinner; Captain’s table:nWe had ordered a deal with room, 3-course dinner in the restaurant and spa for 2 on exit. I didn’t have high hopes so in that regard we got what we suspected. The entré was terrible; this is an area of outstanding seafood so it shouldn’t be hard to get good produce but they really haven’t. Tasted stale - the taste you get when you put defrosted shrimp and crayfish into a Skagen salad. It was served with some ridiculous bread that seemed to be three days old and two moist, and a crisp bread that had lost its crispness and just crumbled. To me, this was inedible. Luckily main course was better evaded McDonalds down the road; but not good. There was no tenderness in the steak hubby ordered and the presentation was dismal. Although chewy, hubby said the taste wasn’t bad. The quinoa was okay - large portion, lots of sweet peas which I appreciated, too many beets but that’s just preference. Too salty but I’m not very appreciative of too much sodium. Hubby’s dessert was extremely bland; tasted nothing like blackberries supposed to be blackberry mousse. My dessert was the highlight of the meal; which basically was a caramel covered portion of airy peanut butter and some negligible fruit sauce. Really good! The very best thing though was the drink; I ordered a spin of the classic French 75 with cucumber which was excellent- kudos to the bartender! Wait staff worked their behinds off - suspect lack of organisational system and training so they ended up with way too many new guests before they could turn tables. Felt sorry for them! We should’ve tried the sea side cafe instead.. nnBreakfastnAll the standard Scandinavian selections, nothing big but good enough for me. Have waffles and pancakes for sweet tooth’s & kidsnnSpa; Bluewater spa and wellnessnThe spa is on level 3 with fitness room. There’s two indoor pools; of which one is normal temperature with bubbles now and then, and the other shallow and really warm. Lots of lounge chairs in the relaxation area. I didn’t count out there are several saunas with different temperatures, one with steam and one more mellow with warm stone rather than intense heat. There’s also a refreshing cold dunk bucket you pull over you. On the patio outside there’s another shallow hot pool as well as a hot tub and lots of seats to enjoy hopefully the sun on the deck. You can also walk down to infrared sauna on the dock and get into the sea. That was brilliant! It’s clean and personnel are friendly. Here’s my issue which makes me not want to return; they allow kids and phones. That forfeits the whole relax experience as they easily treat it as a water park. Also people taking selfies makes me self conscious of turning up in someone’s snaps. Such a shame!nnIn sum, we had a nice stay but wouldn’t return unless: upgrade to better room, ate dinner somewhere else and policy on phones and children in the spa changed.
Good hotel location, Basic breakfast, it was under expectations it is okay .nGood service and welcoming staff, I give them 6 stars not 5 thanks nI recommend nAllt var mycket trevligt och mysigt.
