we had to pick-up the car in the evening. all desks were closed, only automatic pick-up machines were available. the pick-up machines wouldn`t read our drivers license and couldn`t complete our pick-up. when calling customer service we had to wait for about 30 minutes in queue before someone even picked up the call. moreover, we were asked to present a passport instead of an ID card because our country of origin was not part of the Schengen area. This came as a surprise to us, as we had no passports on us, only ID cards - our country, Romania, is part of the EU and we were able to enter the country of Sweden without needing a passport. I find it very unusual that a passport was required for such an irrelevant matter like renting a car. It was never mentioned beforehand that we need to present a passport upon picking-up our car, let alone anything regarding residents of countries outside the Schengen area

Thank you Hertz, who accepted my booking and payment, but when I arrive in Malmö today at 23.00, your support mentions that I did not go through your credit check, due to 2 different parking fines that I received about 18 months ago, both were paid but went straight away to the bailiff, when the fine was written by the police authority, I didn't have the car or the fine with me, and only understood when the letter from the bailiff arrived.nnI've probably rented a car at least 3 times before, did it go well? The fact that you treat a customer who will have the car for a short time is beyond all criticism and goes against everything that has to do with service. If you have this policy, you should not allow the booking and payment to take place in the first place!
