From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The hotel was cozy, comfortable, and beautifully maintained; exactly what you hope for during a Swedish getaway.nnWhat truly stood out, though, was the incredible hospitality. Every staff member went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, especially as American travelers. They were kind, patient, and eager to share local tips that made our trip special. We shared stories each night with Ella, Lizen, Alicia, and Josephine. Thank you, ladies!!!nnFrom the charming decor to the delicious breakfast spread, every detail showed care and thoughtfulness. The afternoon “fika” kept us going during the jet lag.nnWe’ll absolutely return the next time we’re in Sweden!
I have been booking the Sunday package at Gästis one day in the winter, every year for the past ten years. It’s a nice hotel: very cute and neat, the people are nice, the rooms very comfortable. But one thing I’ve noticed is that the price goes up a lot year on year and both the value and the charm go down. Whereas most nice hotels will be a bit flexible - they’ll let you have half an hour extra before checking out to take a meeting, you can go in the sauna for ten minutes before breakfast - at Gästis you used to be able to do this, but as of 2026 you now have to pay a lot extra for these basic things. Food in the restaurant is ok, but very overpriced. All this on top of an already expensive room. It’s still a good hotel but like so many places, it now seems to be more about profits than hospitality. So thank you for the last ten years Gästis, I had some great times there, and hopefully you recapture some of what made the place so special again one day. Let us know if you do.
Wonderful place to stay. And the spa Lenin badet was above my wildest expectations. Do visit for a very relaxing time
This is an offbeat place for Swedish people who love books. There are books everywhere, including in the bedrooms and toilets, and most are in Swedish.nThe TV and DVD player in our room didn't really work - though there is good wi-fi for your own gadgets. I think most people go to this guest house for the spa with a replica of Lenin's bath.
It delivers decently to reside in a fairly small city of Sweden. It is cozy in its unique style. I expect better bathroom facilities with some area to place my stuff and our room balcony turned out to be just where other guests meddled with their bikes.
