I believe this is one of the worst Scandic hotels in Sweden. The young staff at the reception were not very knowledgeable about Scandic and seemed unaware of what they were doing. When I tried to pay with Apple Pay, they insisted that payment had to be made with a physical card. As a top-level member of Scandic, this was the first time I had such an issue.nnThe room was not in good condition, with poor ventilation and no hair dryer. Additionally, the elevator was inadequate.nnParking: It is great that they have parking, but the spaces are poorly designed and people park very inconsiderately.nnI recommend checking other hotels in the area before booking this one.
Right in centre and easy walking distance to train/bus station, shopping and places of interest. Breakfast nicely displayed. Comfy bed. Restaurant is just 'snacks' but nice pizza. Though plenty of restaurants nearby.
Reception staff was very unwilling to help guests… outright rude even. The tiny room had the quality of a hostel or run-down airport Ibis. Location… well, it is quite central. But with poor noise insulation, that also means you get to hear all the drunk people from the bar across the street late into the night.nWe moved somewhere nearby, and for the same price found better service and quiet rooms we could actually move around in.nnWhoever works setting up breakfast in this shambles of a hotel deserves a better workplace and better colleagues. Whoever you are: your vegetable decoration was the only remarkable thing in our stay.
Uplandias location is directly connected to the center of Uppsala. That's great! However it has its disadvantages, especially on weekends.nnIf your in for a more quiet stay I would strongly suggest that you opt for a room away from the main street and preferably on the other side of the inner courtyard.nnPlease know our stay was taking place on the most hectic of days, that is a Saturday.nnWe got one of their old, and quite shabby, rooms on the 4th floor facing the road outside. A plus for the nice view, the towers of the cathedral!nnHowever, the room was way past due date and some details even gave the impression of being filthy.nnPillows were the flattest ones I've experienced in a hotel room so far. Another strange thing was that the water in the tap tasted really weird. Ironically enough there was a picture on the wall telling how proud Scandic is about their water.nnThe big window in the room, were there was a piece of wood missing?, was of the older kind that didn't block any of the nightlife, or other loud sounds, out. You pretty much had to wait until 02-03 until you could get some proper sleep. My girlfriend said she could even catch some of the lyrics of the songs playing. Although the bass is hard to get rid of, no matter what window you got.nnFurthermore one of the breakfast staff that went around in service seemed stressed out and must have suffered from a cold, judging from the sounds. A colleague of her gave an even more stressed impression while cleaning the tables. Poor staff. The breakfast itself was well presented with a good amount of choices. Not that much plant based alternatives. Welcome to the future! Strange enough they had no müsli or granola to choose from that day. Might have been temporary. Didn't really like the fact that I had to lean over yoghurts of different kinds to try to get some raisins in the middle of the big table. Hopefully that was a temporary solution.nnCheck-in was smooth and friendly but check-out was another story. I tried to complaint about the lack of sleep, but was met by nonchalance by a member of the front desk, stating the obvious and also made it seem like we choose that kind of room. Can't see why one would? Not a good impression.nnBUT. If you manage to get one of those newly renovated rooms I still believe Scandic Uplandia is worth a go. But to pay full price for the experience we got is nothing I would recommend.nnI hope they manage to renovate all the remaining rooms in the near future and also give a heads up to guests that it can get really loud.
So far a miserable experience attempting to sleep, room is noisy with ventilation fans that never turn off, and the curtains are inadequate to block out the light from the street. Just had a wander around the hotel looking for some staff to complain to, but I can't find anyone. Parts of the hotel seem quite quiet, but there's a huge part of it that's just too noisy.
