Stockholms Centralstation

Came here during #Throwback2023 winter and accidentally discovered that Stockholm’s metro stations are basically underground art museums disguised as public transport. Meanwhile I was just trying to survive the cold without my soul leaving my body.nnThe Centralstation metro area felt like a giant human ant colony operating with suspicious Scandinavian efficiency. Trains arrived on time, people walked fast, nobody shouted, and even the escalators seemed emotionally disciplined.nnOutside temperature was somewhere between “refreshing” and “polar expedition”. Stepping into the metro station felt like entering a heated sanctuary built by Vikings with excellent urban planning skills. Honestly spent a few extra minutes underground pretending to study the architecture or appreciating wall art.. while actually thawing my frozen face.

A large station complex as you would expect of a big city. Lots of public seating and places to grab snacks and drinks. There are train information staff in the main hall on hand to help if you have any questions or queries. They can help with train times and even if you might need to rebook on another train due to delays.....that didn't work for us this time as earlier trains were full. But good service.

Build on 1871, well maintained, gives a mesmerising cozy feel. Its spectacular with cool vibes. Has locker room, resting places, kids play area, lots of resturants and snack areas. Proper signs to guide newcomers.

Recommended to use public transport when visiting Stockholm, as the city can be very crowded, especially during peak hours. Parking is limited and free spaces are hard to find, so buses, metro, or trams are a much easier option.

We zipped through the station with our group of 11 from bus to train to bus. Easy to negotiate even at high traffic times. One escalator did not work and all others and elevators in great working condition.nSubway sandwich place and several eateries. Toilets are paid, clean and gender free
