The Sundsvall City Hotel is perfectly situated on walking distance from the train station, major bus stop and all city center amenities.nnLocated in a beautiful, classic building the age of the amenities is a waste of something so pretty. We felt safe, late check-in was a breeze, staff was very friendly and all amenities are clean, but the rooms, bathrooms and corridors are seriously due for a renovation to warrant the nightly price.nnAll staff are very friendly and open to help, but English won't always work and a bit of Swedish or a translate app at the ready will make communication a little easier.nnThe included breakfast is great. It's nothing too special but with toast, baguettes and rye bread, a myriad of spreads, meats and veggies perfectly suitable for anything from a light to intermediate breakfast.
Very unfriendly and respectless staff that did not want to give me a twin room for two persons for the official rate and repeatedly claimed this would be for a single room.nDuring the discussion he even increased the rate on the computer a second time and told me that he has better things to do than to serve me.nCannot recommend this hotel to anyone.
A great location in central Sundsvall. The rooms were little bigger than toilets. Please make sure before booking. As showing 10sqmt. what you expect for the price anyways. No parking included but space outside. There's a kitchen available and fridge space.nAs I was coming far and due to snow thunder, I was late. Reception closed by 21.00. Room was unexpected small,i requested for a bigger room, as they were about to close for a day to compensate but lady showed little angerness by her actions and straight said, it's fully booked,n2ndly, i was supposed to leave by early morning and breakfast starting by 8am. My request to give something little early but sorry 'replied by reception lady.nI was extremely fortunate to have a gentleman in the picture Mr.' seeus' forgive I spell incorrect he not only arranged the bigger room to understand my concern, arranged toddlers bed and lastly, arranged my breakfast very special in the fridge and made me happy.nLastly, I told to gentlemen that I always review about the hotel after taking pictures, reception lady replied loudly, sorry we are not allowed to take picture of the hotel. It was little weird but I took liberty with Hero, who saved my trip before ruined and take his picture with me. I might plan again, if I get this kind of services.
DON'T BOOK HERE!!nI wish I had read some reviews before booking.nI booked wrong since I could not arrive in time for their check-in opening hours. I called them 2 minutes later and tried to cancel, they refused and said booking.com needs to cancel my booking.nnNow I called booking.com and they can not do anything for me. The hotel even lied to booking.com saying I never called them. I called them twice and have the logs to proof it.nnThey plan to charge me full price on my card even though I never stayed there. They are all about the money without giving any service at all!
The staff was very nice and the location was good, but the rooms were not very clean. Sticky spots on the floor and windowsill, dirt on the floors. The bed was only half-made, the sheets just laid on, not even tucked in and the duvets were quite old an worn. The bathroom had the mirror on the floor as it had obviously recently fallen down and no one bothered to fix it, the shelving was also broken. The shower still had the previous guest's products in it and it was very grimy, the shower curtain was so dirty I avoiding touching it at all costs. I would not stay there again.
