Was here to the Nordic MDS Group annual meeting. Nice old facility with modern AV equipment, and a nice break area outside the local chapel. However, I prefer meeting room with desks, so you don't have to write on your lap. Nice opportunities for walk before the days event and before dinner.
The place was beautiful and spotlessly kept. However, we booked a long time in advance with the specification that we wanted a vegan dinner after having cycled the whole day to get there. We were then surprised to hear that apparently this information had not been given to the kitchen and we were left to choose off the menu, where there was nothing vegan. The waitress then pointed out a salad to us, in which we could exchange the cheese for vegan cheese, but we had to leave off the dressing too, cause even that wasn’t vegan honey. I thought the salad was just the starter, but turns out that was the whole meal. Needless to say, it wasn’t very exciting or satisfying for the price of 19 dollars each. Disappointing food for vegans. I hope it was only due to the mistake and that this isn’t always the case. Also, the breakfast buffet had a LOT of meat and cheese, but the oat milk looked like water and I didn’t see any vegan yoghurt although there were at least 3 non-vegan ones… However upon request the chef gave us some nice vegan cheese and tofu. There was also a good choice of vegetables, fruit, berries, nuts and cereals.
Located in Sigtuna- the first and oldest town in Sweden, with an amazing view over Mälaren, the hotel offers an unique atmosphere since 1917.
If you are after retreat without any TV in the room or modern style then this is a place for you. Hotel have a great history and famous retreat for Swedish writers.
Gorgeous location on top of hill near central Sigtuna, with peaks of the water of nearby Mälaren lake. An arched walkway encloses a tranquil garden and courtyard with a burbling fountain, all of which can be enjoyed with an evening drink from the bar or with breakfast served in the morning.nnThe building is an interesting landmark in itself, and the interiors have been cleverly modernised and tied together throughout the complex. Rooms are charming with their late 18th century furniture and fittings, while the on suite bathroom is clean and modern with its sleek white tiles and light gray granite floor. Each room also has a plaque with a short presentation of a turn of the century local patron of significance, which is a nice touch to the historically preserved surroundings.nnBreakfast was great, with a reasonable selection of foods, toppings and beverages.nnHighly recommended.
