Enjoy the rooms that also serve as a free sauna in the summer. Don't fret about that silly thermostat on the wall; it doesn't work. Don't worry about telling the staff your room sauna is too warm. They're not really sending mechanical to check it out. Open windows are no help. But they will give you a fan to blow the hot air around your room. Just remember, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Just look at Dolph Lundgren. I bet he spent his formative years living in this hotel. If you're looking for consistency, you've found it. They don't do the little things nor the big things ... consistently. Don't expect Kleenex to be refilled or your room to be at a comfortable temperature. FYI - this room was an upgrade.
The staff is excellent!nBoth Victoria and Murtuza were exceptionally helpful in finding me a room last minute. They even sang happy birthday to my 96-year-old Aunt in the lobby! They went above and beyond to make my stay a pleasant one!nSylvia in the restaurant was also very knowledgeable in helping me solve an issue with my phone !nAgain, great staff… And great service!!!!
I loved the interior, but the service was honestly the worst I’ve come across at a hotel. We asked for a table a little bit off side which they kindly provided but not once did anyone come to us to ask if we would like a refill of our drinks except for when we first ordered. We were not hidden in a corner or anything and had waiters/waitresses walk past us multiple times but not once did they ask if we wanted a refill or anything else, I had to call for someone and also had to go to the bar to get us a refill. If you seat us and tell us someone will take our order I don’t expect to have to go to the bar or “work for” having someone take our order. This is a nice hotel so I do expect that if you see my drink empty or low to approach us to ask if there is anything we need.
Beautiful hotel in a perfect spot, right on the water. The building's got that old-money feel without trying too hard. It's a 1911 mansion that looks as grand as the day it opened. Feels classy, not showy.nnStaff were professional and sharp - Murtaza was always a step ahead, providing excellent customer service. The Gentlemen who greets for breakfast Channa also made you feel great about your stay.nnBreakfast itself was pretty good. No bloated buffet madness, small but done properly.
Hotel Diplomat – charm, a barking dog, and a touch of faded glorynnHotel Diplomat enjoys one of the finest locations in Stockholm — central, scenic, and with a stately façade that hints at elegance and history. It’s a beautiful building, and first impressions from the outside are excellent.nnInside, however, the hotel tells a slightly different story. The reception area is small and a bit tired, giving the sense that this once-grand place has seen more guests than its last renovation could gracefully handle. That said, the front desk staff were extremely polite and welcoming — genuinely friendly, which always matters.nnThe old-school elevator adds charm, but the room I was first given booked via a third-party OTA was in disappointing condition. Worn surfaces, tired furnishings — not quite what you’d expect even from an entry-level category in a hotel of this reputation. Then came the unexpected bonus: a barking dog somewhere nearby. That pushed things over the line.nnTo their credit, the front desk responded quickly and professionally, and I was moved to a room one floor up. It was noticeably fresher, better maintained, and frankly, much more pleasant. So in a way, I owe thanks to the dog — I got a little tour and a story to tell.nnSleep quality was great — the bed was very comfortable.nnBreakfast was somewhat limited in selection, but à la carte options were available. The standout was a fantastic freshly squeezed orange juice and another house-made juice I didn’t expect — really delicious. The breakfast room itself is a bit tight on space, but it’s bright, airy, and stylish.nnService at breakfast was excellent. And yes — a very good cappuccino
