Start your day the right way: with a seriously great breakfast. Scandic Anglais clearly understands that breakfast isn’t just a meal - it’s an event. The spread is generous, well-organized, and packed with enough options to satisfy early birds, late risers, and everyone still half asleep.nnFresh, tasty, and comforting in the best Scandinavian way, it’s the kind of breakfast that makes you linger a bit longer, consider a second coffee or third, and briefly forget all your plans for the day.nnIf every morning started like this, alarms would be a lot less painful.
The location of the hotel is excellent, with a nice view, and the breakfast is decent. The staff at the reception are friendly and helpful, which we appreciated.nnHowever, our stay in a family room was disappointing. The room was extremely cold, especially the bathroom. The floor was by far the coldest we have ever experienced, making it very uncomfortable to walk on and unpleasant to shower.nnIn addition, the room had not been properly cleaned. We found dirt both in the bathroom and in the room itself, and the cups provided in the room still had coffee residue from previous guests.nnOverall, while the hotel benefits from a great location and kind reception staff, the condition and comfort of the family room significantly detracted from the experience.
There were lovely bakery and espresso options nearby, and the hotel was located near many must-see experiences. The room was set up to accommodate my son with a pull-out couch. I enjoyed the infused water available at the front desk.nnThe staff seemed more focused on making sure you were out of the gym area by its closing time than on refilling water in the gym. The cleaning man hung out in the women's room cleaning or whatever, some 20-25 minutes before closing on one evening, which kept my wife from being able to use the women-only sauna. The next night, the hotel had the nerve to send a 'security guard' or some authoritative figure to ensure we were out by closing. For clarity, we weren't aware of the closing hours for the gym the first night, and the cleaner informed us that the gym was closed; we'd just asked the front desk to turn on the sauna, and they'd said nothing about closing when acknowledging that we wanted to turn it on. Of the four nights we stayed, half of those had no water in the gym. There's no phone or way to contact the front desk for more, so more consistency in checking would be nice, at least as much care to kick out patrons trying to get in a post-exploration workout. Also, one day we asked for new towels; they left a stack on the counter, and left all of the dirty towels. They took that quite literally, but the implied task was to pick up the old towels left on the floor. Lastly, just a preference, but I like the double beds better than singles placed next to each other.
Location, staff, value for money, breakfast are all 10/10. Only thing that might need some improvement are the rooms and sauna, maybe a bit outdated, but does the trick.nnAnd extra mention to Ebba at reception, the best customer service I've received not just in hotels. Each day her attitude and whole aura made me smile - it's a lot for us Finns :
Nice hotel, good value and has the vibe of being a more premium hotel but is in fact mid range prices. The bar area is good the room is decent if not a little small compared to others in the Scandic hotel chain.nnOnly down side is thin walls and can hear some outside street noise along with the hotel's own bar.nnGoogle says that the breakfast is free. But it's not so don't expect that without paying... Their own website and booking platforms are correct though.nnLocation was decent on the edge of a nice park and walkable to most of the central sights.nnOverall a good stay and would recommend
